Hi !
First I must say I'm French so, I'm sorry for my English ! 🙂
I am looking for the custom Froyo firmware on Arnova8.
I found that post : http://www.arctablet.com/blog/archos-tablet/arnova-8-froyo-firmware-market-root-kasty/ but it's protected by a password...
Is this post still alive ?
Where can I found this password ?
Thank you for your great job on Archos and Arnova Tabs !
I am sending you the password thru PM.
Please read all the instructions and user comments before flashing.
We are looking at building a more stable Arnova 8 firmware in the future.

Hi,
I am completely new here so hi to all. I was wondering why Froyo firmware is password protected ;).
Would it be ok to get the password and give it a go?
I tried the previous firmware on my Arnova 8 and it seems to be working fine. (some market apps are crashing, otherwise ok)
Tx
The article here explains why the firmware hasn't been publicly released.

There hasn't been much progress on this firmware lately, as focused was put on newer machines for the moment. We'll get back on the Arnova 8 at a later time.
I'm sending you the password to access the firmware, please make sure you read and understand the release notes before flashing.

Thanks for the pass
I had a good lecture and now I can see the reasons why. 😉 Considering the amount of work that is still needed I guess I will have to wait, especially that though it is v.2.2 due to chipset issues it still can't use flash so no youtube etc.
Thanks for the fast answer and keep up a good job. I'll keep checking for the final build
Thank you for your understanding.
We'll keep you updated regarding the custom Arnova 8 firmware.
Custom firmware gives Youtube support without problem, but there is not much to expect for Adobe Flash on these devices: it's not supported by Adobe and the CPU is too slow for good Flash performance.

Hi, I have just joined this forum, as I have for many months been looking for android 2.2.
I already flashed my Arnova 8 with a rom, but android market only ran for a short time using this.
Does anyone have any idea when we might see android 2.2, one other question.
is it possible to clock the cpu to say 800 mhz, to give it a bit more speed.
Sorry to ask so many questions in my first post.
I am intending to give this to my Mother to use as an internet radio, with tunein radio pro it will
record on to sd card.
thanks and regards...

Hello Tony,
There are a few custom firmwares for the Arnova 8 even one bringing Android 2.2 Froyo on the device. Still, these are unofficial solutions and current tests shown these firmwares are not that stable for the moment, a lot of users flashed back Android 2.1 Eclair.
I don't know about any overclocking solution for the device so far.
Finally, the Arnova 8 is quite limited because of its resistive screen and slow CPU, it's probably a good idea to keep it with default firmware and just use it for simple tasks like ebook reader, movie or music playing. Your mother should like it [Image Can Not Be Found]

thanks for the reply, she is getting it for Christmas, I installed tunein radio pro using an SDK file it works very well. I doubt it will ever be used for anything else.
I tried to find an internet radio that can also record, but they are way too expensive.
I have a touchpad myself, sorry to say that Malta is missing on this version of tunein pro.
regards
