Somebody ask me to  tweak its Arnova 8b G2 (not 8G2), in order to add Google play. The tablet arrived stock, and I restore factory setting on it.

I tried Arctools, but I never have been able to install anything.

I also tried to boot in recovery mode, but no combination of command works (reset +, reset pwr, pwr +)

For the moment I only have a tablet with gingerbread on it without google play.

If a 4.x rom could be upgraded I would be very interested.

See picture here after for details:

There is no 3.0.8+ kernel for that tab. Consequently no 4.x builds.

Maybe the firmware of the 8G2 works also on the tab. Difference only HDMI?

You will find both firmware here: http://arnovatech.com/support/updates_fwm.html?country=us&lang=en

Initially I planed to use the following tutorial:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/

And flashing the following rom:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-8g2-custom-firmware-upgrade-android-40-ics-google-play-root/

I am assuming that 8G2 and 8bG2 are the same except for physical buttons.

My concern is that I have not been able to boot in recovery mode, then RKBatchTool does not recognize the tablet... I saw that to boot on recovery on 8G2 is reset & pwr like it is shown on the following picture:

But it does not seems to work... (neither reset & + or pwr & +). I will try again now that the battery is full, it may help

To install the usb flash-driver pls use this tool: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=1187

De-install the driver first.

The driver tool did not change anything I tried on 2 different computers.

I am not able to boot in recovery mode anyway... I think that the first step is to found a way to boot in recovery mode. Any idea?

Email sent to archos support team in order to have the procedure to enter in recovery mode on the 8b G2.

I also try to install the firmware of the official web site, it's still a useless 2.3.1 gingerbread rom...

I hope I will be able to switch to ICS rom mentionned there:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-8g2-custom-firmware-upgrade-android-40-ics-google-play-root/

Otherwise this tablet is just unusable...

Unplug the charger. Then try each of the three keys together with reset. Try also reset without any key.

Each configuration old 20 secondes:

reset alone = nothing

reset & pwr = nothing

reset & + = nothing

reset & - = nothing

The classic combination pwr & + does not work neither

I also try to use ArcTools to initiate recovery boot but nothing hapen

What windows version? Do you use an usb2.0 port?

I use Win 7 and USB 2

I see "periphérique USB non reconu", I tried to install the driver while I keep pushing on reset, it says that the driver does not match the device...

When I stop pushing on reset, the tablet strat.

What about switching off the tablet and disconnecting it from the pc, then pressing in the volume+(or volume- when volume+ won't work) button and in the same time, connecting the usb cable from pc?

The following users say thank you to exelletor for this useful post:
