Almost the same situation as in this topic

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arnova-7-g2/arnova-7-g2-with-ics/

I've bought a new arnova 8g2 8Gb tablet for my father from a retail chain in Belgium. The device was sold with Android 4.0.3 out of the box.... same sticker on the box as post above. funny thing, the manual was not updated and explains how to use the tablet with android 2.3

So my questions are:

-Is there already a modified rom dump for this model?

-Should I try what Oream did when he was unsuccessful? (manually, arctools, ..)

-Could the same technique as the 7g2 be applied to create a modified dump?

-If so, I can provide a dump (as soon as I go see my father). Is the dump tutorial still also valid for this model?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I think I'm stuck.

I'm unable to use 'su' and become root.

I'm not sure if step 6 worked.

A screenshot of SuperOneClick results is attached

In step 7, I get:

C:Usersaurelio>C:Androidandroid-sdkplatform-toolsadb devices
List of devices attached
A80HT0123456789A        device

C:Usersaurelio>cd C:Androidandroid-sdkPlatform-tools

C:Androidandroid-sdkplatform-tools>adb push C:rkdumprkdump /sdcard/
1835 KB/s (63916 bytes in 0.034s)

C:Androidandroid-sdkplatform-tools>adb shell
shell@android:/ $ su
su
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
127|shell@android:/ $

I'll try again with the linux tutorial and will let you know what happens.

I've just tried the linux method.

I try to put the device in flash mode pressing vol+ key and reset button with a paper clip.

The screen becomes black.

Is the flash mode active when it's black? Should I see something else?

When I run the perl script, I get:

darodi@ubuntu-pc:~/Rockchip_dump_Linux$ perl ./an10g2_dump.pl

./rkflashtool: 1: ./rkflashtool: : not found

./rkflashtool: 1: ./rkflashtool: ELF: not found

./rkflashtool: 1: ./rkflashtool: : not found

./rkflashtool: 1: ./rkflashtool: : not found

./rkflashtool: 1: ./rkflashtool: : not found

./rkflashtool: 2: ./rkflashtool: '

followed by many other errors.

all resulting dumps are empty, their size is 0.

Any help?

Thanks.

ok found it. I had 3 problems.

- My usb cable extension was interfering with the detection of the device (saw it in linusb and dmesg logs)

-I had to compile rkflashtool using gcc

-I had to use 'sudo' in ubuntu or I get permission denied on the device.

I now have those files :D

Not a problem, I asked because the supplied binaries in our package are made for 64 bits systems. Glad you managed and recompiled them by yourself :)

I'll just need backup.img uploaded at the address you have.

Thank you Wink

Got it thanks.

I'll first make sure it's working fine with older Arnova 8 G2, then I'll add Google Play Store.

It should be ready later tonight Wink

Cheers.

I have posted an Arnova 8 G2 ICS stock firmware image and custom firmware with Google Play and root based on darodi79's dump here:

Tested OK on an old Arnova 8 G2 capacitive, 8 GB storage.

Cheers.
