This is very cool. I'm wondering how it diverges from the custom ROM Sowa released?

If I remember right, Sowa firmware is based on the stock firmware with its own modifications.

This one is CM7 based.

Thanks, I've only ever really 'dipped into' Android so not familiar with where the different ROMs relate and differ. Running this one anyway as I did run CM7 on a HTC Hero a good while back. So we'll see how my usage goes and if any interesting issues crop up.

Hey,
The flash worked perfectly but...
My Arnova 8G2 has a resistive screen.
The screen is not responding; the calibration bulls eye can not be clicked.
But the back button works and when pressed; I'm presented with the following menu option:
Continuer Avec
- Assistant d-installation
- com.android.provision.DefaultActivity
But similar to the calibration screen; there's no response from the resistive screen.
So I can not choose an option.

Any ideas how to fix?
How to get the resistive screen to work?

I've been running this for the past couple of days. Quick impressions: Installation is straightforward, no problems there. Takes awhile to boot first time which caused some uneasiness for a little while 🙂 Since installing I've just had one spontaneous reboot which is pretty good. No obvious reason why and no problems since. Everything is running smoothly enough, I get occasional lag from applications. But audio and wifi work without any problems. Browsing is snappy even on long pages scrolling remains smooth and fast.  Flash 11 doesn't play nice (it's Flash after all!) so I'm having a look at that - I discovered Log Collector today so it has been an opportunity to see why browsers crash in relation to Flash.

This CM7 firmware is in its early stage (alpha 2), it still contains some bugs, the screen, audio and webcam problems seems to be one of them. You'll probably need to wait for more stable update for better functionnality.

You can flash another custom firmware from here:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-8-g2-first-custom-firmware-android-market-root/

or restore the stock firmware from the manufacturer:

http://www.arctablet.com/assets/firmware/Arnova8G2/AN8G2_stock_update.zip

In all cases, you'll probably require to use the Rockchip flashing tool as there is no currently no recovery functions in this CM7 port:

Chronology:

1. Root : AN8G2_full_crom_eu_m2s.zip. Good but icone battery status bar does not function.

2. Root: CyanogenMod7: No audio no camera, screen scintillates

3. Return towards: AN8G2 full crom have 32s : no audio, screen scintillates.

4. Return towards: AN8G2 Stock update: no audio and the screen scintillates

5 -Root still towards: CyanogenMod7: no audio no camera, screen scintillates

I think that the problem it is because I root since AN8G2 full crom have 32s directly towards CyanogenMod7

Thank you for your assistance

Thanks for the details.

I'll have to rely on other Arnova 8G2 users feedback here, I'll investigate more if needed.

Hello

I think that I lost the files which were in the hard disk of  the shelf at the time of the first root.

Will somebody be able to copy the files of the disc of his  shelf and to me to send them by mall?

Thank you very much
