ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install for RK3066 and RK3188 -- TWRP/CWM Flash-Tool and root for RK3288
Please donate to support OMA and CrewRKTablets firmware work, thank you !
... and we also may be able to help you by making a custom firmware for the Arnova 7h G3.
If I'm not mistaking, the 7h G3 is based on Allwinner A13 or A10 platform, so you can have a look in the Arnova 7 G3 (Allwinner A10 based) forum for some tips on how to make a dump:

Yes, it is based on the Allwinner A13. As I understand Arctools is not yet supported on this device. I have Livestudio installed and functioning ok, but I think it is only used to flash, not backup. Will an ADB backup be enough?
Thanks
ADB backup of all NAND partition is fine, as you'll read in the Arnova 7 G3 forum. People have been able to dump and restore tablet's this way. Still, on the 7 G3, it is required to have a working ADB connection to be able to restore. If that's not the case, flashing a full firmware image (there is a custom one called Elvish 0.3 on the 7 G3) with LiveSuite is necessary to repair a bricked device.
I'm not yet sure how to build such an image, but will have a look when we have the dump for the 7h G3.
Cheers.

Yea, please upload it.
I'll have a look when I have some time, later this week end hopefully.
Cheers.

Hello everybody.
I have successfully installed Clockworkmod and made a backup using it. Problem is it seems to contain all my personal data on it (accounts pictures etc). I found out because I restored defaults and then restored the rom and after the restore all data was back. I'll try to backup again after I restore to defaults.
In the mean time, can someone please explain why we cannot flash one of the firmware for other arnova devices??? I mean they share the same hardware (all winner a13, same resolution etc)
In other words, if I where to try another rom on this tablet, which would be the first to try? Also, would Clockworkmod be removed after flashing a new rom?
Thanks
The problem is they probably don't share 100% of the hardware, there are many components that may differ: touchscreen, camera, accelerometer, ...
If you have a working backup, it doesn't hurt to try your luck with a firmware for another device, but I wouldn't recommend doing it if you have no tested backup of the stock firmware.
Cheers.

Thanks, I have restored the backup made with clockworkmod and it worked. The thing is I'm not sure if CWM will be removed after flashing device!!!
Thanks

Hello,
I now also have the 7h tablet, and would like to extract the stock firmware to be able to restore it if I break something.
I've been trying, by looking at procedures on this site.
The only thing that is working is ADB BACKUP -ALL
It's something, but what I'd really want is an image to be able to restore it via livesuite or something.
Can someone help me along here?
NL
I have never user adb backup command. A backup option can be found in this Arnova 7 G3 topic (starting page 4) which has some instructions on how to backup each partition of the tablet using doing a cat of each /dev/block/nand* blocks to a file. It should work the same for the 7h G3 as they share a similar platform (Boxchip Allwinner SoC).Â
Still, I don't know yet how to reassemble all the partitions to make an img file suitable for Livesuite flashing.

Hi andrew_sh, any chance of you posting your image/backup? I've bricked my device and I cannot find an image to restore it...
Thanks!
