I recently purchased an Arnova 7f G3 with Android 4.0 from Amazon. I have no been able to get Netflix to run on it. I've tried downloading the Netflix app from 2 different sources but each time the same problem occurs. First, I added the Amazon Ap Store to the tablet and downloaded the Netflix App. The download and install went smoothly. I logged into the app and it opened fine. However, when I try to click on any movie to start, one of two things happens: (1) the screen goes black as if a movie is starting...then it flickers between black and white before ultimately reverting back to the menu screen or (2) nothing at all happens when I click on a movie to start it.
I thought perhaps there was a compatibility issue with the tablet and the Amazon store Netflix app so I searched this forum and found the method for adding Google Play to the tablet via ArcTools. That worked fine. I was able to install Google Play and then install Netflix. However, the results when I tried to stream a video were exactly the same. Either the screen went black and then flashed between black and white or nothing happened at all.
I'm at a loss. When I read the reviews on Amazon, one of the reviewers said that Netflix worked fine on this tablet. This was a gift for someone with the main purpose being a device to stream Netflix.
Has anyone had a similar experience with Netflix on this specific tablet? I haven't been able to find any direct related posts on any forum about this particular tablet and Netflix. Does Netflix even work with this device? I got my daughter a Coby Kyros tablet last year and Netflix worked with no issues. My OG Droid, Asus Transformer, and Droid 4 all had no issues running Netflix so I assumed (perhaps mistakenly) that the 1GHz processor and Android 4.0 on the 7f G3 would be sufficient to do the same.
If the device isn't compatible with Netflix, its no biggie. I can return it to Amazon for one that does. If it IS compatible, I would appreciate a fix or, if no one has one, a confirmation that it in fact does work with Netflix. That way I can at least explain to Amazon the device is potentially defective.
At the end of the day, I only paid $99 for this tablet so I wasn't expecting much...I just thought that playing Netflix was included in the "not expecting much" category since practically every device I've owned since my OG Droid has been able to do it. Either way, any help would greatly appreciated. I'd love to be able to solve this without the hassle of returning it since it was a gift. However, if it can't do Netflix, which was the main reason I got it, then I really have no use for it and need to start the process of returning it before the window closes.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, I am currently having the same issue with this tablet and Netflix. Did you ever find a solution? I'm thinking of maybe returning mine. I like the tablet alot, but the battery life is horrible on mine and the fact that I cannot install netflix is a bummer for me. Also, is your battery life bad also or is it just mine?

No, I still haven't managed to get Netflix working. I was hoping someone in this forum would have an answer. I'm probably going to keep it. It was for my neice and I've found some kid-friendly video apps that work for her.
The battery life is horrid compared to other devices I own but I knew that when I bought it. I got it for $99 so I'm not complaining that much.

Im returning. I packed it up right after I made my post about netflix not working. Im in college so I just needed something for on the go and with the bad battery life that won't work out well. Other than the battery, the tablet is great and it's really fast epecially on my schools wifi. I think i'm gonna add a little more money and go for something in around the 200 range. Hope your neice enjoys her tablet
