I have prepared a test version of a custom firmware for the Arnova 7e G2 DT, your feedback is welcome Wink

Download: http://www.arctablet.com/assets/firmware/Arnova7G2/kasty-ez_arn7eg2dtereader-23-111.zip

The features are identical to our other Kasty EZ firmwares (ex for the Arnova 7b G2): partial root, Google Play/Android Market.

I'll eventually add ext3 support and writable /system thru our kitchen later.

The following users say thank you to admin for this useful post:

I'll see if something can be done when I have some time, I am currently busy with other G2 tablets firmwares.

Yeah, finally a custom rom for our little e-reader 😀

Thank you so much!

Which version is this based on? (the original one is android 2.3.1)
Does this fix some stability issues of the original firmware and most importantly the "email drains battery like crazy" bug?

It's the stock firmware from Arnova  from 2012/12/22 with Google Play integrated. I haven't made any other modifications so far.

So far I have 2 other users that reported success.

You can give it a try and can always go back to stock firmware if things does not go as you expect.

Stock firmware is here: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-firmwares-updates/

Flasher if the device is "bricked": http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/

Thank you for replying. Also it´s good to know that you can switch back and forth between firmwares.

However, I won´t install this yet - I got android market and the other gapps running on stock rom and the only reason for me to want root is to be able to remove the faulty email app. (which apparantly does not work yet.)

But I´ll keep an eye on this thread because I´m really glad that someone has created a custom firmware for the 7e g2 🙂

Ok, so how exactly does installing this work?

I figured I just need to unzip the file and put update.img on my sd card.

When I reboot my device, it detects that there´s firmware on the sd card and asks if I want to install it. I click yes, then the device tells me to keep the charger plugged in and it reboots.

However, it doesn´t install anything - when it´s rebooted it´s still running stock firmware with all my settings as they were before.

So what am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

After the reboot, you should have the new firmware installed. It looks almost like the stock firmware, with Google Play and other apps added in the application list.
