Has anybody successfully extended the wifi antenna on the 7CG"?
I have about my fourth 7CG2 - still liking them. This one has the worst wifi so far. I note that the wifi antenna is mounted on the plastic backplate that sits between the back cover and the motherboard. When the backplate is screwed in place, the antenna connections press against the motherboard. These connections appear to be fine. Looking at the motherboard, there are sockets for external antenna, not dissimilar to those found in mobile phones. In fact, there are three such sockets. My guess is that one is for a 3g antenna to improve transmission from the sim card, while two are for the wifi - same connectors as one might find in a modern laptop. So I got hold of a laptop wifi antenna (stripped out of an old netbook) and plugged them into the connectors on the motherboard. So far the wifi signal has not improved. I think I am close to a solution, but not quite there yet.
There are three antenna on the backplate, corresponding with 7 copper connectors labelled A1 thru A7. I want to determine which of the copper connects corresponds with which of the external antenna connectors. You get a rough idea. I reckon if I connect the laptop antenna properly I may succeed.
