First of all, hello to everybody.

I'm an avid Android user who just got a hold of Arnova 7c g2. It's a great device and I enjoy it a lot, but the 2.3 Android is a bit of a let down. Now that the device has been rooted, what are the chances of packing up Honeycomb (or, being optimistic, Ice Cream Sandwich) up for the 7c? I have a mobile phone which was on 1.6 and now it runs ICS thanks to developers (and it's a hell of a worse device than 7c, looking at the specs). Is there a chance we get a newer Android version on our 7c G2, be it official or a custom made firmware?

It's quite uncertain for the 7c, because it's running on a Qualcomm CPU and it is a quite different platform than the other Arnova G2. For other G2 running on the Rockchip RK2918 CPU there has been an ICS announce from the manufacturer: /blog/featured/android-4-0-ics-on-rockchip-rk2918

Nothing is released so far, but other RK2918 models should start to ship with ICS soon, so there's hope.

Also independant developers and communities are started to looking into Cyanogenmod 9 (Android 4.0 ICS) to port it on RK2918... it will be then a matter of adapting the firmware to the Arnova G2 hardware...

Well, I have a GT540, a very old Android device, it also runs on a Qualcomm CPU and they've ported the ICS. It's just a matter of the architecture then?

The qualcomm cpu's change quite a bit in terms of drivers between moddles. It depends what drivers are missing.
