Im extremely new to the world of android. Was given arnova 7c g2 for christmas. I lost an entire week to angry birds and since then, with the exception of using it to replace my laptop to ise websites for my usual day to day stuff, its wasted. Im getting the impression, from what i cant do, that this model is to android world, what three network was to mobile phones in the early years......locked down. Am I doing something .wrong as I just am feeling disapointed beyond belief. I have other archos devices and have always been happy with them.
Sorry.....blonde moment there maybe. :s Appslib has various (35k appa
rently) downloads. Most dont want to work and those that are on there aren't compatible with this model. I read through a fair few forums recently and cant gt my head around around this root stuff. Id love to be able to use normal android market, or be able to click on things and they download without an error msg lo. I havent really got much idea of the capabilities of this magical tablet as whenever i see somethinh id like it wont work! I would love to get opera to browse as i use it on my phone, but it wont allow me. Go launcher wont allow. Facebook wont install properly- constant errors. Im not a technophobe inthe slightest, but this is driving me to distraction. And im not used to touch keyboard so plz excuse my typos lol
If you did not want to do the whole root thing you should
Be able to get the market on your tablet by installing a few files
Please see link
With regards to go launcher go to this link and download
Version 2.70 as the releases after that are buggy on
App lib market is not the best so when you get the proper
Market up and running you will have the latest
Versions of programs and access to a massive annount
Of apps compared to the poor app lib.
You are probably having problems with the apps
You are installing because they are not up to date.
Aha! Finally found some keyboard settings! My spellings are generally fine but long nails and teeny keys are not greatest combination. I think that tbh, I'm so used to windows on computer or Sony phones that this device has just totally thrown me. I think maybe I just haven't really worked out what it can do and am getting more hung up on what it can't do. I get lost doing some of the most basic functions and think I need to master that first. Thought I deleted all my home screen icons earlier, turned out that I'd added few extra screens :s just as well I have a sense of humour!!!
The good thing about Android, when you get used to it is just how customisable it is, you can replace practically every aspect of it so If something is annoying you, you can usually replace it with an app.
For example the standard keyboard is not to my taste, I have Swiftkey Tablet X Keyboard installed on my 10g2 and it is customisable so you can change the height of the keys, change the colour of the keyboard through themes, and the keyboard layout etc.
But the most important thing I would recommend is the launcher because the built in android one offers no customising and I find it very poor. Go Launcher ex is superb and really makes using your tablet a breeze to use with the amount of improvements and customising it brings over the built in launcher.
First thing is first though get the Proper market installed and you will be able to get access to proper up to date apps.
Thanks 🙂 as you may have noticed, the spelling....... well, the typing improved dramOatically now i have a nice pink keyboard with extra large keys. Well, the pink isn't a major factor but size most definitely does matter;) I am going attempt the google apps tommorrow. Thanks for yr help & advice. Extremely appreciated!
Ok..... i am officially giving up. Apps lib it is. So far i had managed to delete my icons instead, deleted my apps lib app & had to go back to carphone warehouse to reinstate jt. I successfuly corrupted a nice new 8g sdcard & lost all my apps. And my tablet, along with my patience, is about to go out of the window.......... :'(
