I think it's one serious option, as I don't see any other spot for screws.

Please take some pictures if you tear it down Wink

I need to take mine apart as it is dead.  I don't know Italian so can't register and download pictures from the above link.  I removed the 2 screws, and tried using a sucker to pull the screen up (ipod touch/iphone style) but the screen does not budge.  I guess there are some clips tat need a thin item to push against, but I can't see anything.  Any ideas?

Used google translate - the Italian tells me to lay it flat screen down, push palm of hand on back near to ports at bottom, and slide the back panel up towards the camera end.  It is a slow and gentle process but eventually the panel starts to slide slightly.  The back panel slides back about 2mm then can be gently lifted upwards from the camera end. Inside there is another panel with about 12 screws.

I've disassembled it, separated all ribbon cables, rebuilt and reseated all cables properly.  Can't find anything obviously wrong.  Physically all is well.  Since I have been unable to see any sign of power it would be good to try a different battery, or to try this battery in another one.  I'm not keen to disassemble my good one.

Original assembly involves sticky tape on the battery, which sticks it to the screen's ribbon cable.  not the brightest idea as you have to spend ages carefully prising the battery away.

Previously while on charge the battery got warm so I know there is power getting to the battery.  Not sure what else I can do without another one to switch parts with.

I googled for a replacement batetry but can't so far see anything similar.  Battery is marked MLP 506994 4000Mah 3.7 v

I'll find my meter and check the voltage across the battery while connected and while disconnected....

you know that it can be also the screen :)) not the battery

if the screen is not working the battery will still charge

but you also said that you don`t here any sound when you connect the tablet to the pc

many variables 🙂

While charging, it is not the battery that is getting warm, it is a component on the motherboard.  There are a couple of cover plates on the motherboard- the larger one is getting warm.  If the battery was working, I would expect to see the panel lights flash, even if the screen does not come on.  The panel lights are (I think) part of a separate circuit board.  I've not taken that board off just yet but I will.

The circuit board below the screen holds the wee diodes that illumunate the four buttons.  This is separate to the screen - so it may be that the screen is not dead.  I reckon I've no power getting anywhere much.  Not sure what to do now.  My meter connections are not fine enough to got onto the wires that go into the battery plug socket.  It would be good to get hold of a battery that I know to be working.
