I have recently flashed setialpha's rom rev 11 (file dated 04/02/12) to use Android Market which is working superb.

I am using a Vectone 3G SIM topped with £5, set up APN, turned off WiFi and can access web sites with no problems. When I switch on the tablet I see "Vectone| Vectone Mobile" in the top corner of the screen.

However, when I try to send SMS on the Messaging app I always get the message "Message not sent" with the notification  with a white exclamation mark inside a red triangle. Looking at the notifications, I read "Message not sent. Select to review the message and try again"

When I look under Message options/View message details I get:

Type: Text message

To : Vectone

Sent : 3:19PM, 14 Feb

Error Code: 1

Can't see anything relevant to solve Error Code 1.

The puzzling thing is I do recieve texts messages (from Vectone) such as a welcome text, and later to acknowledge the top up payment, but whenever I try to send a text it always gives a buzz and fails ? Confused

Any help would be really appreciated. Many thanks in advance !

do the following:

connect tablet to pc, open a terminal/commandline, go into the directory there 'adb' is stored and issue:

adb logcat

This will provide you with the debugging output of the device. Now write a test-SMS and provide the debugging output that appears when you try to send the SMS. 'error 1' is a joke. (just as 'error 492' in market - I mean WHO knows error-codes like those? They should stop believing people are dump and drop atleast a sentence rather than a number!)

Hi Setialpha,

Yes, I didn't want to trouble the Forum if there are solutions 'out there'.

I have done as you say - I have 4 screen-prints when I tried to issue the text "*1252#"

on Messaging. They go in sequence named loglogcat-1a.jpgImage Enlargerlogcat-2a.jpgImage Enlargerlogcat-3a.jpgImage Enlargerlogcat-4a.jpgImage Enlargercat1-4

Many thanks

I just created a full backup of my mother's 7c 2g (stock). I'll check if there's some noticeable difference that may cause the issue.

The outcome is: there's nothing wrong, except that your provider information is missing.

See /system/etc/apns.conf

Sorry for appearing thick, but I'm still really puzzled.

I believe I have entered all the provider information - in fact more than the provider (Vectone) thinks is required as they say I do not need any entries in MCC or MNC fields.  However, leaving these fields blank meant that Vectone did not show up as an APN.  After much digging around I entered MCC=234 and MNC=01 and only then did the radio button light up on APN and I was able to receive 3G internet ... but I still cannot send SMS text messages without ERROR Code 1.

I've looked on the micro-SD card for a folder /system/etc/apns.conf butt here is no /system folder so I guess you are referring to something else?

I definitely have credit, it has been doing this as soon as
I topped up, and as stated above I have a ROM version from setialpha.

I am hoping to understand what/where I will find this /system/etc/apni.conf is and what I need to do once I have located it.

I believe setialpha means that your provider info isn't in that file and you'd need to edit it.

Download the file from your tablet and have a look at it.

Thanks Admin for your reply.

I have searched again on my flashcard for a folder called /system but there isn't anything like that.

The directory structure I have is :

/.android_secure

/Android

/appsmarket

/cache

/data

/DCIM

/GOSMS

/LOST.DIR

/MUSIC

/PICTURES

/Speedcar

/VIDEO

...but no /System folder ?  Confused

/system should be at the root of the flash storage on the device, not on the sdcard. You should be able to see your device full file structure with good file managers such as Root explorer or ES File Explorer.

I don't have my 7cG2 with me, I can't give more info, for the moment.
