WOW, i have recently dragged my device out of the cupboard I so wish i knew about updating this because at the minute, i watch films and thats it!!

I have a android mobile and wish this device could run like that....  ive read through and downloaded some files but from what i read i`m confussed i have a limited understanding of computers but this appears to be a step too far.

Is there an easyier way to do this??

Any help or advice would be great.. it does seem to be wasted and your solution does look very good.

you need to install android sdk
enable usb debugging
install adb drivers
flash the tablet with the new files.

if you do not manage to flash it alone, have a look here.

Hello,

I have installed this firmware yesterday, and the tablet seems more reactive.

It does not resolve the GPS/3G issue. Thanks !

Can't use GPS without Airplane Mode...

GPS with 3G activated (even without SIM) doesn't work.
GPS with Wi-Fi in Airplane Mode works.

I try many combos, with/without BT, with/without 2G forcing...

Page 1 [Post 1] by Setialpha gives a step-by-step instruction guide and all the downloads available.

For ease, once you have installed Adb [see one of many tutorials like  ]  this is what you do :

1/. Download nano-system.img and the proper nano-boot/trenano-recovery.img (as per Page 1 Post 1)

2/. rename the downloaded NanoBoot to: nano-boot.img

3/. rename the downloaded TreNanoRecovery to: trenano-recovery.img

4/. Connect tablet (switched off) to your PC using USB cable and put it into fastboot mode (shutdown and start by pressing power+lower-volume).

5/. Using WinXP do Start/Run/adb

6/. type adb devices

You should see something like "ARNOVA-53f4d5zz12536666" [this is just an example]

If your device is not listed then do not proceed. Try rebooting your PC and start again, or uninstall and reinstall Adb but if it does not list your device it is pointless going forward because your tablet is not connected to Adb.

Get this stage sorted out before proceeding.

7/. Asssuming your device was listed by Adb, then type fastboot flash recovery trenano-recovery.img

8/ then type fastboot flash boot nano-boot.img

9/. then type fastboot -w erase system

10/. then type fastboot flash system nano-system.img

11/. then type fastboot continue

12/. Wait until the tablet reboots - this may be a couple of minutes ... but wait

13/. Once tablet has booted up (you should see a different splash screen), on the tablet go to Settings > Accounts & Sync

  • enable both options for backgrounddata
  • add account
  • open market and accept TOS

14/. That's it - hope this helps !

[All credit to Setialpha here whom I have cut, pasted and edited to make this as short and simple]

i had a little success, i got adb working, recognised my arnova, but then realised i had to put the roms on the sd card, so i unpluged, then took the card out and poped it into my laptop, put the trenano-recovery.img and the nano-boot.img on the sd card along side the other things that were on there, put it back into the arnova, but now when i cmd prompt adb devices, there is nothing in the devices attached list ??

hmm…

in the guide it does not say to put those files in the sd card
i am tired to say again and again how to flash this tablet, i have writen at least 20 times for 20 different persons how to do it.
if you want me to flash your tablet via a remote connection, give me a pm, have in consideration that i charge 5 euro/pounds for it.

use the reset hole from the back, reset the tablet, push again the power and volume key minus (that lowers the volume), the screen should be black if you do it right, connect the tablet to the pc, a driver pop-up screen should appear, install the drivers.
now go to C:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools in CMD, or where did you installed android sdk and type
fastboot devices (if you get a result from here you are good to go with the flashing)
fastboot flash system draganddroptheimginthecmd
do the same with the other files.
fastboot continue after you finished all the files.

ADB IS NOT THE SAME THING AS FASTBOOT MODE.
TO GET IN FASTBOOT MODE THERE ARE 2 WAYS

1) USING THE KEYS FROM THE TABLET
-shut down the tablet
-press in the same time the volume key that lowers the volume and the power button.

2)USING ADB
-you need to enable usb debugging from the settings
-connect the tablet to the pc
-install the drivers
-get to place where you installed adb, mine is C:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\
from here you will issue the fallowings
C:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\adb devices
C:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\adb reboot bootloader
-now your tablet should reboot in fastboot mode, a pop-up should appear about the drivers, install them and you can flash the tablet.

OK so adb working driver done

it finds the device... but fails to respond to the other commands... so I MUST have the wrong files???

drag an drop the files in CMD to get the exact path of the files

Is your tablet booting normally ?

If it is, did you enabled usb debugging ?

If you did enabled the usb debugging, did you installed the drivers ?

If you did installed the drivers, did you verified if adb is working, by using the command "adb devices" ?
