Just for your information:

Bootlogo (ARNOVA on startup): haven't found out how to change yet.

Bootanimation (android on startup): just grab any bootanimation.zip for XDA & Co. and use adb to push it to /data/local/bootanimation.zip - the device will automatically use it.

If it is like other ROMs I have done the boot screen logo is a file in boot.img called initlogo.rle.  If that is not there then it simply stay on the Arnova logo which is in non-flashable ROM. You have to convert a jpg or png to an rle file and the graphic must be the proper X&Y pixel dimensions for the device.  I have some windows tools to do that if you need them.  I got them from a post on XDA that described how to make a bootlogo.

800x480.  Also be careful using some other programs to convert to .rle.  Some just do not work as they were made for phones and a fixed resolution and no way to get it to convert in a resolution that is different.

Hm... I'm unable to make it work, still that ARNOVA logo, neither with 480x800 nor 800x480 ...

480x800:

800x480:

... maybe I'll try with another rgb2565 tool.

Here I converted your image to .rle using my tools.

Try this and let me know.

No, still showing ARNOVA. Maybe they changed something, so that the filename has to be different?

All of the ROMs I have worked on work.  You have to rename it initlogo.rle (no cap letters) and put it in the root of boot.img.  However I also seem to recall that there is a line in init.rc or possibly build.prop, etc that has some boot logo statements.  I don't recall where that was so maybe it is missing or commented out on the 7c?

Additionally at least for the 10 G2, 9 G2, 7 G2, etc.  All the files in boot.img must not have an updated date (touched).  I found many issues if I did not do this command before packing boot.img:

find . -exec touch -d "1970-01-01 01:00" {} ;

Maybe this is the problem?

Just did a quick search of the 10 G2 init.rc file and it had these statements in it:

# setup the global environment

    export ANDROID_BOOTLOGO 1

service bootanim /system/bin/bootanimation
user graphics
group graphics
disabled
oneshot

Also check default.prop.  I seem to recall other ROMs I looked at had some statement in there about logo.

Tried all that right before... no luck, though.

init.rc/default.prop are fine.

Not sure if it helps, but I found the following:

Q3) Can we enable splash screen in the bootloader?

A3) In normal bootup, the task of the boot loader should be to perform hardware initializations and jump to Linux kernel as soon as possible.  Enabling a display driver and splash screen does go against that goal.  However, if an OEM wants to enable splash screen in bootloader, a display driver does exist in boot loader that can be used for splash screen.  You will at least have to enable DISPLAY_SPLASH_SCREEN feature.  During bootup, the bootloader will read the raw image from ‘splash’ partition and copy it over to framebuffer.  This has been verified for MSM7X27 on LCDC display.  OEMs can work through this implementation if they want to enable the same for their own devices.

https://www.codeaurora.org/2010/03/02/little-kernel-based-android-bootloader/

Not sure if it applies to the CPU and environment on the Arnova 7cG2...

There's no splash partition on 7c g2.

For system bootanimation:

/media/bootanimation.zip

So a bootanimation can be included in a custom ROM

just grab some bootanimation.zip (search google, you'll find plenty everywhere) and place it on the folder given in the first post (internal storage).

You can either use a filemanager to move file from SD to internal, or ADB.
