The joke is: I'm on Debian, it's ADB that messes up the permissions.

I'll set-up a local GIT, so that it/I can re-mess-up. 😉

Before loading up the fixed one, I want to integrate busybox. (toolbox is just too limited, it doesn't even know "rm -r")

So. Revision 04 is now online! (same link as always).

Changes:

- fixed dhcpd-run-hooks permissions (fixed WiFi connection failures)

- added application: SwipePad (pure awesome)

- added busybox and made it the default (for SH and all commands it shares with toolbox)

I have made a dump from my mothers 7c g2 and the stock firmware has got more stuff in /system/xbin... I'll see what's up there and maybe there will be a Revision 05 today evening.

Next step...: changing default setup of home screen and stuff. [got no clue yet, as this is my first android device ever - pointers welcome]

Nice work 🙂

Is it possible to have a version just like the stock rom?

Could you dump the entire system.img, boot.img, recovery.img from your mothers stock device?

My recovery.img is definitely messed up because when you press settings>about>software updates it just reboots to android, but used to reboot to recovery (looked a bit like clockworkmod!)

Now we need to get market working Laugh

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arnova-7c-g2/arctools-wont-run-on-my-arnova-7c-g2/#p3537

And flash player would be good too, I can't get this to run from flash 10.3 on appslib.

So. I filled the image with all missing files. I had to remove the ringtones/alarms and ChatOn, as you can't flash via fastboot a sytem.img that is bigger than 120 MB. (I guess missing ChatOn by default won't hurt the most of you, but you can still side-load of course). I also added the fixed ppp_mppe module from XDA (will be loaded automatically when WiFi is activated)

Currently testing and then uploading.

I wonder if the missing files might make marketplace work? Maybe fix the add google account problem?

What does the  ppp_mppe module do ?

No, the market exists with force-close. ppp_mppe does not work on our kernel. Android Gingerbread has some pptp bug, which is fixed by that module (if it would be compiled for this kernel).

Revision 05 now online.

- removed: ChatOn (due to 120MB system.img limit)

- removed: alarm/ringtones (same as above)

- added missing lsof (link to toolbox)

- filled image with all missing files from stock firmware

- removed an bogus entry from init.qcom.post_boot.sh

I'll figure out what stuff from /system/app can be dropped - I'm pretty much sure several MB can be saved here. I wonder why there is 120MB limit for system.img? Is really only 120MB of the 512 MB internal memory for /system? Needs more investigation, but not today.

Thanks for all that great work on the 7cG2 setialpha.

I haven't had much time to check your firmware on my device, I'll shortly have a look and report here.

Revision 06 will be released next weekend. What's done so far:

- removed unneeded stuff (alert me, if you DO need one of those):

  • GlobalTime
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Calculator
  • SoundRecorder
  • QuickSearch (widget)
  • DeskClock (widget)
  • Calendar (inaccessible)
  • QVTester (?)
  • Text-To-Speech (inaccessible)
  • TestAll (?)
  • DownloadProviderUi (UI for downloaded stuff, we have ES File Exlporer and Browser to access them)
  • Tipps (widget)
  • PinyIn input method
  • Term (inaccessible)

Replaced:

  • Launcher2 > GO Launcher EX
  • Browser > Dolphin Browser HD
  • Music > TTPOD
  • HTMLViewer (= Video) > QQPlayer

New:

  • FlashPlayer 11 (working here // currently only tested YouTube)

Stay tuned 'till next weekend's release! 🙂

/note: only 5 MB left, so don't request too much - unless you find a way around the 120 MB limit. :]

Good work setialpha !

Just to note I think YouTube works without flash player installed ?  I tried flash 10.2, 10.3 and 11 and couldn't get iplayer to work.  I removed all flash and YouTube still works?

Any chance of a totally stock version of the rom, with the 3G and WLAN fixed?

I messaged Arnova support asking them to put a stock rom on their site or a download link (as they have most of the others) so will see if they respond!

Ahh... I almost forgot that. Yeah, it's not working. (I was like "oh, YT works, so flash works)

About the stock-rom thing. I may provide you a clean one. it's not that hard actually, just a rev05 without fb and twitter and with toolbox instead of busybox. No more other changes atm.

More changes for weekend's release:

- better version of ES File Explorer

- replace FM Radio by A Online Radio

- replace Gallery 3D by Just Pictures

- add GO Locker

- add GO Widgets (Facebook, Twitter, Taskmanager, Switch and Note)

- add Dolphin PlugIns (PDF-Viewer, ScreenCut, Speed-Dial and Web2PDF)

Does anyone know how to change default settings of GO Launcher EX? (default stuff within .apk)

Just out of interest i am by no means an expert on Android. but could this tablet actually be used as a phone.???

surely the hardware Qualcomm MSM 7227 i think is the same as my daughters T mobile Blaze... Huaweii 8510...

also would be good to get some youtube posts, on how to install Root, and Clockwork mod if possible....

I managed to sort Cyanogen on my Huawei 8180 phone real easy by watching youtube clips...

could this be done in the future cyangoen...?

The stock firmware/kernel does not have call-support built-in.

Also check my newest firmware: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arnova-7c-g2/nano-cfw-arnova7cg2/

My firmware is basically a stock ROM, just with arctools support.

Please refer to "Nano CFW rev09" topic in future.
