It looks like you are one of the first person to have this 7bG2 Wink

If I may ask, where/when did you buy the tablet, can you send any pictures of the device ?

To make a custom firmware, we’ll need a dump of the device firmware or an official 7bG2 firmware to be published by Arnova.

I suppose most of work done for the 7G2 can be reused for the 7bG2.

If you want to help dumping the firmware, please have a look here, be prepared for some linux command line fun…

Thanks for the link, it’s definitely a 7bG2, even the vendor does not state it clearly.

Even if you device is bricked, it can probably be rescued using the Rockchip Flashing tool, and probably reflashed to get it to work again. If it’s easier to take it back for replacement, please do so. If not, first have a look there:

http://www.hhgregg.com/arnova-designed-by-archos-7-android-2-3-gingerbread-8gb-multimedia-tablet/item/501868

On the Arnova 7G2 you entered in recovery mode by sliding the Power switch to the right and pushing the reset pinhole with a paperclip. If helping to dump is a problem, just wait for someone else to provide a dump and you should be able to flash again the device.

Out of curiousty, how did you get the device bricked ?

Well loading a firmware from a different machine has very little chance to work, there are often some slight differences in hardware and software that prevent it to work.

If you can’t return it, don’t worry, you should get fixed once we have a 7bG2 firmware to give you to flash…

As Admin said… If someone can get a dump of this ROM (backup.img) I will be able to fully root this tablet.

Thats interesting that flashing my 10b G2 (resisitve screen) worked! Are you sure everything works OK?  e.f. WiFi, USB, etc?

So maybe just going into init.rc and build.prop ont my 10b firmware, I might be able to adjust the screen size and make a 7b ROM.  I will look into this over the next few days.

OK I just checked on the Arnova web site.  The 7b G2 like the 10b G2 has options for either a resistive screen or a capacitive screen.  Which is yours?  It will matter.  Since my 10b G2 rom is for resistive and your screen does not respond to touch, I assume you have the capacitive?  If that is the case then to date no one has dumped a capacitive screen 10b so even if I figure out how to convert the 10b resolution to the 7b, it wont fix you.  We need a capacitive ROM dump.

That does not mean anything honestly.  A resistive and capacitive screen can be dual touch.

For instance the ID in the resistive screen 10b was AN10BG2DT

For me the DT at the end meant dual touch?  But the ROM was for the resistive screen.

I think your box it came in should say which model you have?  I hope anyway….

OK cool…. so think about this… You flashed with the 10b which has a larger screen.  So WHERE you touch to answer questions will not be where it shows up on the screen. Make sense?  Try messing around and pressing a location on other places of the screen and see if you can find the touch location to get past the OK for screen calibration.

So on yours the OK for calibration maybe way down on the lower right corner (or somewhere different than stock) YET your touch screen will think it is in the center.  Make sense?  Try pressing where the OK was on your original ROM instead of looking at where the OK is now.

Let me know if you get anywhere with this.  I will look into how to adjust the screen.  If it is in the kernel, you can forget it.  But if it is in something I can easily edit, I will try.
