ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install for RK3066 and RK3188 -- TWRP/CWM Flash-Tool and root for RK3288
Please donate to support OMA and CrewRKTablets firmware work, thank you !
The hardware is similar but the 7b G3 has 1024 Mb of RAM which makes quite a difference.
I don't think Arnova will release ICS firmware updates for the 7b G2 (DT or capacitive models). There may be a port by independent developers but we'll need the Arnova 7b G2 kernel source code, unfortunately Arnova hasn't released it yet.

Yes, 7b G2 and 7 G2 are pretty similar, RK2918 CPU, 512 Mb RAM, the main difference is case design, screen/touchscreen and some drivers (so their firmware is actually different).
The thing ICS may be a bit short on RAM with 512 Mb, but it seems workable, as Arnova 9 G2i users reported (Arnova 9 G2 updated with ICS, same package thing with a sticker).Â
If you get access to one of these 7 G2 running ICS, a firmware dump would be awesomeÂ
Cheers.

For the same price, I think you made the right choiceÂ
May I ask in which country do you leave ?
Cheers.

Any updates on this topic?Would like to switch my 7bG2 (capacitive) to ICS as well.A solution to switch from Market to Google play would be welcome as well.
I think a saw a kids version (4Gb) ,white and blue finish, running ICS.

At current point, there is little hope to get Android 4.0 ICS (or later) on the 7b G2 tablet. There has been an update for the 7 G2, but it's not compatible with the 7b G2 (different hardware).Â
The kids version you are referring to is probably the ChildPad, different hardware as well.
Regarding Android Market to Google Play Store installation, it should automatically migrate if you have a proper Market installation, it should be fine with our custom firmware.
Regards.
