Just got an Arnova 7 G3 yesterda.  Played with it a bit, installed things, read a lot about differnt attemts to get Google Play on it, but so far have done nothing.  It's a stock AN7G3 with a stock ROM.  After reading a few others attempts (i.e. Gerry's,...) and some failures, I'm willing to try this,  Just sent me whatever links I need.   Thanks.

Guys, I have 5 testers already checking the Google Play install procedure, that should be enough for now.

If no major problems are reported, the procedure will be enabled to everybody in the next hours...

Cheers.

So far, no major bugs detected. Google play now recognises my two devices (my phone and this tablet) and I have to admit, I tried bbc iplayer and was utterly in awe that it worked flawlessly. I can purposely miss progs just for that!

However, I did install adobe AIR for that to happen (on top of uninstalling and reinstalling flash)

There were loads of updates I needed, which I've been able to do.. was so much better for it!

I've tried several apps and I'm happy to say that they're BETTER now for what they were with the bog-standard apps market..

The mic logo for voice stuff - that's there, where it wasn't before.

Skype updated too - I'll be testing that out later to see if the video aspect works better than it did before.

Also, AVG updated too - the apps lib version is ancient and not worth bothering with.

In fact, so much stuff in the apps lib is massively out of date and if this is put out on general release, then a lot of people will be able to make those (often) important updates and not get left behind. On the whole, so far, it's been a great experience trawling GApps that I have on my phone that I need on my tablet aswell 🙂

I'm in and out of hospital a lot and when my energy levels are zapped, this is going to make such a massive difference and because I'm probably going to face surgery at some point, then yes, having a tablet that does what I really needed of it is going to keep me in touch with family and friends.

My general overall opinion? Excellent stuff and many many thanks!

Thanks for testing and for your feedback, that's pleasant to read Wink

I believe we're on a good way for a public release for tonight or tomorrow, depending on the other testers feedback.

I'll need to work on some documentation that will complete the video and eventually prepare an uninstall procedure for those who would like to remove Google Play Confused

All the best for your care at the hospital.

Cheers.

If the update comes out, how do you install it, and will it erase all your memory?

It does not erase anything. The procedure will be documented when we publish it, and there's a video as well, see page 1 on this topic.

Well, I'm so glad to have been of service to test this and yes, I am *still* downloading/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdsting apps - oh good heavens! I feel like a kid in a candy store!

Access to up-to-date apps is important because yes, there are (and have been) instances of some viruses on android devices and having a tablet that's prone due to being 'locked in' to an apps system that's not got those up-to-date apps is putting people at risk. Also, when you visit a website with an android download, being 'locked out' of google:play is about as frustrating as it gets - especially when you know you're using the latest android OS!

This has been the smartest and wisest move I've made in the near two weeks I've had my tablet. I feel that the world just opened up a little more and it's not enclosed in some archaic apps enclosure prone to some of the 'nets ills.

Those of us who own a PC/Mac, we're always told to keep everything up to date because of viruses and having something out of date puts you at risk... so, there's a lesson there!

So now both my android devices are recognised and I can sit here and send apps to either without there being some kind of hold up... this is a VERY worthy update and I can't thank enough the people/person/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdam behind this.

Heck, I gotta synch winamp now... something I've been dying to do for what feels like too bloody long! Laugh
