ALD3 can you advise steps to get superuser working again on your firmware? App installs from play store but will not manage su requests.... everything bypasses it.

Hmmm, thought it was still in the dump like play and gmail. Are you Iinstalling superuser or supersu? I have found that with supersu not installed during a root process will not write the su in xbin. I would install superuser and update the su file with it, then install supersu and un-install superuser. If its superuser and you have installed, then reboot and run superuser. If it still won't make an su file in xbin. Then you might try putting an su file manual with es file explorer in system/xbin and then run superuser. I had no problem. Here is an su link in my dropbox, not from an7g3, as I'm not on it right now. If this su won't work then let me know and will get one from an7g3.

Don't forget that you must open superuser and update su file after install or it won't work. Ninjaduck, let me know if you get it to wôrk. Also admin installed but didn't say anything about superuser.

Ninjaduck, did you get superuser to work? Here is the su file AN7G3. Copy to system/xbin

SuperSU worked fine for me on your dump, ALD3.

Supersu worked, problem solved! Updating binary also probably would have worked. On another topic, I have been toying with porting elvish onto the g3's system files. Finally got it to work, but it offers no apparent benefits! However if a more feature filled rom is ever made for the a7 I now know how to port them :-)

Any chance you could see if the problem with the auto-rotate is not simply due to a missing kernel module? It would be awesome if we could just import it...

mma7660 is the orientation sensor, but I dont really know how to make kernel module changes on Allwinner A10 based firmwares.

Anyway, with ALD3 latest firmware dump and ArcTools package, I think we have a good tablet setup, properly working with Google Play Store. I haven't yet done much tests thought.

Cheers.

Yeah definitely this is a good stable firmware. And I'm a total newbie on android. But I'm thinking if this kernel is not that different from the elvish one, then maybe we can just load this module on the elvish kernel so the auto-rotate works...

I don't really use the camera honestly, so I can't say if there's a difference. But so far so good! I had wireless issues with the original firmware (would drop once in a while and had to reboot), hasn't done it yet so it appears fixed. General performance looks better too. I was just restoring apps now so I'll let you know for sure later, but it's looking really good! LaughCool

Uh.. hmm.. it reset itself to default lol... everything's gone. All I did was power it off for a few hours while it charged :\ I'll try to replicate it I guess.

Ok... every single reboot it does a factory reset... help? lol

Any suggestion appreciated at this point. I should add that I did flash CWM from admin's post, if that's at all relevant.

Edit: Think I hit the 0 space left bug. Re-flashed it, so far so good.

Also, CWM cannot do a factory reset, when you click on it, it's like those 3 touchable rows disappear. Back to stock recovery too.

Glad you got the factory reset fixed. On CWM, have you tried to reflash it and did you use the install bat or adb. I installed with the install.bat and worked fine, did backup and haven't tried the backup but the size of the files looks correct.

Ok just tried mine, have menu to wipe cashe but like you there is really no menu to wipe......only the warning at the top. You can still do a factory/reset from within settings/backup&restore. I used that before I did the firmware dump, so it works fine.
