Also we have posted a copy of both original and altered vold file. All you need to do is download them and replace the one. You can use something like android commander from your computer to access the files that you need and replace then reboot tablet. Google android commander and install on your computer. That will be easiest for someone not familiar with adb.

Learnt how to use adb, but for some reason it was unable to copy the file. Anyway saw this and decided to give it a go. Looks like it worked, but I still need to transfer my files back over. Super user , busybox and market were all installed and working fine before I messed up the vold file. I might try copying the modded vold file from here using Android commander before I copy my files back over, as I still need to get use of my 32gb micro sd card. Thanks for all the help

Glad you seem to have it going your way. If nothing else you can go to play market and uninstall and the install programs again. Android commander has saved my bacon a few times when I messed up a file. Even sometimes when you don't think it has fully booted android commander will still access files. If you just copy all the files to your 32 gig micro SD and then replace the vold with the altered vold and reboot, you should be fine. I would save a copy of both files on your PC. Always a good ideal and I have a folder for each device that I have, with saved files......just incase.

OK I'm back again. Not been able to get any further with the tablet. Basically what's happened after having a perfectly working and rooted Arnova 7 G3 I attempted to change the Vold file, but something has gone wrong with the tablet. Every time it boots it's like it is booting from new and all settings are as if from new. I replaced my edited Vold file with the one I backed up and also tried the uploaded one from here, but neither have fixed the problem. Also tried downloading the modded Vold file, but my PC keeps seeing the zip file as corrupt. I've also place copies of all my files on both the internal SD and EXTSD and still when I reboot all is set back to factory default. If there is a quick fix to the Vold problem I don't mind persuing it. If not can some tell me how I can hard reset the tablet. Thanks again, Mike. Posted a couple of photos to show state of storage ...

Not sure what to tell you as no one has ever had the problems that you have described. Any problem is usually fixed by Replacing the .vold file. Have you tried a factory/reset from within settings? If you have cwm installed, you can do a factory reset from within recovery. Make sure that es file manager still has root permission and IS replacing the vold File. As that could be the problem.

Sorry for the late reply. The SD and EXTSD have some how swopped over, but I still have the problem with internal storage or lack of it. Tried the factory reset from within settings, but has made no difference. I used Android manager to change the vold file and it seems to have worked this time, apart from my internal storage. Is there anyway of knowing what I can remove from there, maybe something that shouldn't be there anyway ?

Posting a couple of screen shots showing the storage after the modded Vold, but still no internal storage. One thing I did notice, is that Downloads is showing 316mb, but when I select it it tells me there are no downloads ?
OK , first your tablet has 2 internal . Top one has the operating system, second internal is your sdcard and about 2.2 gig. Looks like somehow more than your OS is installing on the top internal storage. If I were you, I think that I would download both VOLD files, original and altered. Download to your 32 gig micro SD card. Copy the original VOLD file and paste and replace the one in your system right now. Then re boot and see if your internal SD is back to the 2.2 gig and 32 gig back as ext SD card. Then if you have cwm recovery installed, boot into recovery ......... wipe cash........wipe dalvik cache, then do a factory/reset and after you boot up, see if all is back to original. Top internal should be no more than around half full and second internal should be 2.2 gig. Then if all is OK, copy altered VOLD file and paste replacing original gold. I downloaded both before I answered you and had no problem d/l or extracting and reading them. ANY AND I CAN'T STRESS ANY changes to those files and I mean even 1 blank space WRONG will screw you up, and even keep you from booting at ALL. Anytime you do a restore or reset with the bad or altered VOLD file, it will not put the original back in place, its head it uses the one already there as That is SYSTEM FILES. Hope it helps as I really can't think of anything else. Good Luck

Is there anything here to install cwm recovery. Done on my HTC no trouble, just not tried with the tablet ? Had a good idea how the memory was set up, just thought a fresh pair of eyes might spot something I hadn't. Was wondering about the dalvik cache. Thanks for the help
Yes there is a cwm recovery somewhere in a an 7g3 thread here. I just tried to find it for you and something has happened to this site and forum. Its ALL SCREWED up and almost impossible to navigate. Have a look and if I should find it I will post a link for you, maybe they will get this straightened out, so you can navigate.

Thanks for all the help. Installed a custom rom from XDA for the Hyundai A7, which works great and has solved the problem, but didn't notice it has a fault with Auto-rotation not working
They have a stock ROM in the forum for your an 7 g3, most have went back stock.

Well I think I've created a monster Used the stock firmware dump on here and followed ninjaduck's instructions using adb shell to restore partitions, but only got to "cat /sdcard/nandd.img > /dev/block/nandd" and couldn't get any further. I skipped to reboot and now have an AN7g3 rom mixed with the elfish rom from XDA and the Arctools hack. Fingers crossed I think all is OK, but I wont know fully till Friday night. Just done a quick check and I have all the goodies still installed from the XDA rom, Auto-Rotation is working again and I have 32gb for SDcard. Thanks again for all the help
