Can anyone help with getting skype to work on this model? I bought this tablet to keep in touch with friends and family as I am away with work for some time and all they can see on their screen is neon pink and green stripes :s

I have read a few posts online about people having this problem yet I can't seem to find a fix for it, other than "use modded version of XDA"

I am not a techy person and I have no idea what this means, has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?

Hello,

I believe you're referring to a special version of Skype application that was made available on xda-developers.com forum.

It's probably the one referred here by globula.

I haven't tried it on the 7 G3 though.

Cheers.

Hello nicci, I have the exact same tablet with the same problem. Unfortunatly for techniclal reasons I won't go into here the tablet is not compatible with the newest version of skype. So what it meant was  we had to do a search for an older version and found it here.

http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/download/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdmp/1303415490_com.skyp.rder1.0.0.983.apk After trying different earlier versions this one worked for us.

At the top of the page you will see the following statement........

You are about to download the file com.skyp.rder1.0.0.983.apk, which has a size of 8 MB. If the download didn't start automatically please click here.

Then click on the words (click here) to download the file. You can do this on your tablet or download to a pc if you have one and then drag and drop the file from your pc into the download folder on the tablet.

It works great now and no more pink and green lines. :-) Also make sure you uninstall any other versions of skype from your tablet both from the unistall menu and check the apps on the apps screen to make sure that the skype apps from the other version has gone as well or it won't install the older version for some reason which is what happened to me.  If the old icon is there hold your finger on it for a few seconds and the option to uninstall will pop up at the top of the screeen then slide the icon up to the uninstall label.

Otherwise if you have it working now from a differnet source then just disregard this message.Laugh
