Hey everyone, I bought my Dad the Archos Arnova 7 G3 for Christmas and up until recently it has been great

Lately however he is saying that very regularly it is restarting for no reason quite a few times a day, he says mainly when he touches the screen but not exclusively, it will do it without any interaction at all too

Things he has tried so far,

1. Factory Reset

2. Factory Reset and install apps slowly one at a time until it happens again (In case its an app issue)

3. (Currently Testing) Factory reset and install no apps

The only app he installed after reset number 2 was SwiftKey3, so this time (Reset 3) he has installed no apps at all and is waiting to see if it happens again

I am not new to Android, tablets, and rebooting issues, I have the ASUS Transformer and suffered almost 6 months of Random Reboots and Sleep of Deaths before I gave up on ASUS Stock ROMs and flashed a Custom ROM from XDA, which thankfully cured all my problems

I have hunted around and can't find much in the way of Custom ROMs for the G3 apart from the JellyBean in-progress ROM mentioned on this forum

Also I have checked the Arnova website for stock firmware updates but it seems they have downloads for every tablet except the Arnova 7 G3!

So while trying to support my Dad via email, I`m looking for a little support myself as to what I can advise him to do if this keeps happening, I understand extremely well how frustrating the rebooting bug is after my ordeal last year so any tips or pointers would be very much appreciated :)

I have a far bit of experience flashing ROMs and CWM Recovery etc, a small amount of adb command know-how etc so if there is a workaround that uses those methods that would be fine

Thanks guys :)

Can you check your kernel & firmware dates, see in Settings / About tablet.

If the newest firmware dump from this thread is more recent than your system it may help giving it a try.

Cheers.

Thanks for the quick reply Admin, I've just emailed him asking for those dates, hopefully will get a reply soon

Is there an easy way to flash the firmware dump  that I could explain via email ?

EDIT - Looks like he gone to bed so I`ll update this thread tomorrow with the dates

From a search, it looks like I need to use ADB to flash the firmware dump in that thread?

Ok, he says the only info he can see is this

----

Kernel version only shows 3.0.8 and underneath says administrator@administration #27

Baseband version 1.0 and Android 4.0.3

He also says since removing the MicroSD Card, it has not crashed or rebooted which also plays in line with the same fix we had for the ASUS Transformer rebooting issues

Possible yea, although when it was my model tablet with the same issue, it was happening to a massive number of people on XDA so I think its an ICS vs MicroSD problem

Would be interested to hear anyone with the same tablet using a MicroSD without problems, and the make and model card used though
