I've tried to flash my 7g2 with your firmware, using the RKAndroidTool. After a successful "EraseIDB" when it says "Test device OK". I've started "Run". However, it is stuck at "Start to download file" and won't go nowhere anymore. Trying to run the "RKBatchTool" with the official update.img from Arnova gives me an error and I can't get the 7g2 back to work. What did I do wrong and what can I do to get it back to live? Please help!grtz
Bert
Few things to check:
- usb cable maybe be defective
- directly connect the tablet to the computer USB port, don't use a hub
- run RKAndroidTool on a real PC, don't use a Virtual Machine
Â
Trying with a different cable / on another PC may give better results.
Please try and let us know.

My 7g2 is back to live and I must say, it is faster than before! Great job, Fenice57.
Playing around with it I find it more stable, my 32gb sd doesn't unexpectedly unmounts anymore and battery performance looks increased.
The only (minor) thing I found is that when I try to change my wallpaper it does not resize properly. That is: If I take a picture using from the standard wallpapers it shows only a part of the picture. If I use 'JustPictures' the rectangle to select the part of the picture is square (or almost square). Probably there is a way to correct this, however I did not find a way to do this yet.
All and all, the 7g2 works like a charm with this custom ROM and I would definitely recommend this 'upgrade'.
Advice to all (not experienced users like me) : use a Windows XP machine and not a Windows 7 to install the ROM. I had a rather fearful hour to get it back to live (see my above cry for help). Also know that there a lot of friendly, helping people here that give a very quick response.
Thanks

Bert,
Glad you got it sorted.
Feel free to let us know if you have some ideas/suggestions for a Rockchip flashing tool FAQ/Troubleshooting article that we are preparing.

Hi
Â
I've got the firmware running ok - once I'd reread teh instructions and worked out where the kernel image was 🙂
Â
I've obtianed a E1550 modem, but it doesn't get recognised. In fact I can'd get any pen usb device to register - I can hook up to my pc via usb no problem - what am i missing/doing wrong?
Â
Thanks

Try to connect pin 4 (sense) of the micro-usb connector to pin 5 (ground). This will activate the 'host' mode on the 7G2 and your pen-drive is accessible. Have a look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092493 for some info. I bought this one: http://cheep.nl/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdlefoon/universeel/otg-usb-kabel-voor-de-samsung-galaxy-s2.html and took a scalpel, cut open the micro-usb and soldered a little piece of wire from pin 4 to 5. Works fine!

iptables binary is there, but iptables/netfilter support is missing in the kernel.Â
I have no idea if it could be added without having the kernel source for the device.Â

I installed this on my tablet and I'm fairly happy with it. Boot times are much better, I don't have weird "process android.system.acore has stopped responding" issues after booting up and I can finally edit the files on my filesystem, since it's no longer cramfs. I've also noticed I get better performance in 3D rendering, and the text on Quadrant which was unreadable (1 px tall) is now fine.
I also no longer have to move apps to the "8 GB" internal storage, which sometimes refused to mount and required a reboot.
All in all, a great firmware, I'd recommend it to anyone who has an Arnova 7 G2.
