When I go on to the browser I can load google no problem, but if I try any website address it will only load the screen for 1 second and then crash.
I have connected to my BT total broadband router and have no issues with any other devices in the house.
Can anyone please help with this as I am stuck?
To Start: The problem is not connecting with connecting to the internet. If your connected to your WiFi and your device loads the google page You are indeed online. The problem is within The actual Browser App or within the settings that tell the browser how to Send/Handle Data. Its Even possible Your device has too many running services and doesn't have enough ram to handle the browser.
Lets Go Through the Basics First.
( IF YOU DONT MIND LOSING YOU DATA JUST SKIP TO STEP 5)
(1.)Restart the Device - Either by using the powerbutton(soft reset) Or by the Rest Button With a Pointed device........ Try the Browser again.
No luck? ( didn't think so but, You'd be suprized) Continue.........
(2.)Clear Data & Cache -
(you will lose your favorites Browsing history & cookies/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdmp files)
Go To Settings > Applications >> Manage Applications >>> All Applications>>>> Browser ( w/e browser your using) Now Press Clear Data & Ok After this completes If Clear Cache is Still Lit Up Go ahead and Clear the Cache too. Once You Have Cleared Data & Cache Go ahead a Restart the Device & Try your browser again.
No luck? Keep Reading
(3.)Unnessary Apps Running? -
(you may be forced to close your Widgets / theme or theme related files)
Go To Settings > Applications >> Running Services: Look at the Bottom How Much Of your ram is Being Used? If your Using more then 50 / 60% of your ram I recommend You Force Stop on any Unnecessary apps & Perhaps go as far as uninstalling anything that was running that you don't mind parting with. Removing any Unnessary Running apps go ahead and give your browser a try.
Still No Luck? Bummer, Dont worry theres more we can do!
(4.)Did you Install Any New Apps or games?
Some Apps & Games frequently Use the browser or services provided by the browser. Sometimes these programs will have side affects on the browser itself. That Said, I recommend you start removing the last 5 of your most recently installed apps. Once you have removed the apps RESTART THE DEVICE And Try the Browser again.
If you Dont care about Losing any of your data or files i reccomend you just update your Firmware and get it over with. More then likely this will solve the Problem and you should have be updating your firmware anyway
(5.)RESTORE YOU DEVICE TO STOCK FIRMWARE
(You will lose any installed apps/pics/files/data of any kind that is saved to the device)
Go to: /blog/archos-tablet/arnova-7g2-firmware-20111213-update-available/ Download The Update.Img to your SD Card & Turn off Usb storage. Next the Device will tell you it found a newer firmware. Hit Or Install & The Device will take over. Do Not Touch the Device While the firmware is being Restored / Installed. Leave it alone Untill the device has restarted into Android OS
If you guys installed that rooted ROM that you just copy the update.img over to the SDcard and reboot to install.... Well I hate to tell you this but WiFi has a problem on that ROM!!!!!!
It was well documented in that post for First Rooted firmware!!!
But there is a fix. You must go into WiFi setting and set a static IP address. Using DHCP to get an IP address doesnt work on that ROM. It just constantly is resetting and renegociating with the router! Setting a static IP fixes that.
P.S. My ROm does not do this.
