How the heck do I flash my tablet if I'm not using windows? I use Linux on all my computers...

I got the earlier google market etc. installed on Gingerbread as I was able to do that easily via Arctools... but the reflashing to ICS apparently requires using a windows program and all the instructions given in the blog post refer to using that program.

Please check the guide in the first post on how to install this firmware:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-7-g2-firmware-upgrade-android-4-ics-google-play-root/

You don't need to open the img file, just flash it using Rockchip flasher as explain in the guide:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/

You could use rkflashtool under Linux to flash the image, but it would require to have it rebuilt as separate parts (boot/kernel/system...) as rkflashtool isn't able as far as I know to flash a "consolidated" single file image (update.img)

Paul_c, that's probably the best option if you don't want to quickly get the firmware flashed, the Linux option should work, but will take a little time to figure out everything.

Cheers, good luck with your 7G2 flash.

Hi, exactly one week ago I was given a brand new boxed Arnova 7 G2i, i.e with ICS already installed (had the ICS label on the box). As expected there is no Google Play installed.

I would like to confirm that Kasty custom firmware download (version 0.43) is compatible the 7 G2i devices. As far as I can see it should be - I'd get everything I had before plus Google Play and a rooted device. Right?

Thanks.

That's correct, our custom firmware will work on the Arnova 7 G2i, as stated in this guide. It will add Google Play, root and more space for the applications.
Cheers.

Amazing it works :D

I had a slight scare at the beginning because when I tried to boot the device all I got was a blank, black screen for about one minute before anything displayed up on it.

Big thanks to the everyone who helped develop / support this. You guys are great!
