Hello guys. My name is Kyriakos and I live in Greece.

So recently, I was searching for a decent tablet, with a big screen, good processor and generally nice specs.

Some day, randomly I saw a bargain on a famous German store here in Athens,Greece and went to check it out (how it worked etc.) I liked it very much.. Just a couple of days later I bought it. Worked very smoothly, nicely, nothing to complain about.

When... This magic word, when it fell from my desk by mistake,at my rug on my room.

Picking it up,I saw a little surprise,a surprise that would make realise why a tablet with such specs is so cheap.

Broken screen it is,although the touch works very good and has no problem, but the aesthetic isn't that good. It irritates your eyes. So as I saw the warranty wouldn't cover it,although I had some hopes, but just no.

When asking the Service department of the store I bought it, they told me this thing "It is better you go buy a new one."

You will ask why! (?) That's what I did. Their answer was clear .. "It will cost 80 euros the delivery, and the screen and the general work about 50 or more (approximately)" .

Seeing my face that guy said " yeah I know,I've been through this too".

I am so angry with this whole situation. Wasting your money for a broken screen? It just is wrong!

I'm sorry with what happened to you Kyriakos.

There are quite a few cases of dropped tablets with broken screens in the forum here, unfortunately there isn't much to do, the repair usually cost the same price of a second hand tablet, specially with entry level models like the Arnova 10d G3. If the shop where you bought it doesn't want to make any effort, you may try to sell the tablet with the broken screen and get a few bucks from that. Or you can plug the tablet to a TV thru the HDMI port, and put a keyboard/mouse to control it, if the tablet port supports USB Host (I am not sure).

Regards.

We get your point bud sadly we do not take part in Archos/Arnova customer handling, we provide solution within the limitations offered by them.

Sorry to hear of your problem, Sir. I lost a $400 Toshiba laptop after a 2 foot fall to the carpet, harddrive broke, couple other internals broke.

I've read here that if you call or email Archos's tech department they'll ask you to send it in after your RMA is approved (take a jpeg of the original store receipt to email to them) and if it is not covered by the warranty it might cost about $35 to replace the glass (or they might replace the entire unit for a new one).

Unfortunately these low cost tablets are not made with GorillaGlass screens, though even those do break. See what Archos's tech department does. Remember they are goijg to try to help you, try not to be angry with them (it's not the tech guys fault, he's just a worker in the tech department) and see what they decide. Good luck to you, I returned my 7G3 for a battery problem and had a replacement sent back in about 4/5 weeks.

Well I considered that option too,but the guy from the store told me that "it's 80 euros the delivery (only!!) 40 to go to France and 40 to come back + the cost of the screen and the service" so it goes over the price I bought the tablet.

I will try to find some other store to replace the screen with much less money.

Anyway, guys I just wanted to express my opinion and my anger about this object.

Thank you.

Well that's what forum are about, giving your opinions and sharing with the community.

That's sad repair costs are so high and these tech objects life is so short. Hopefully you'll find a replacement screen and someone to repair it locally.

Good luck !
