ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install for RK3066 and RK3188 -- TWRP/CWM Flash-Tool and root for RK3288
Please donate to support OMA and CrewRKTablets firmware work, thank you !
It's been a while I haven't worked on the Kasty 10b custom firmware, but as far as I remember, the system partition was kept like the original firmware, in cramfs (ready only) filesystem. You can't change files there, you'll have to modify the firmware to do you changes and reflash the device with that firmware.
here is a pointer for that:

Hey Bob,
Here is the Arnova 10b custom firmware I made a while ago is here:
/blog/featured/arnova-10b-android-2-2-froyo-firmware-market-root-kasty/
and the stock firmware from Arnova is here:
/blog/featured/arnova-firmwares-updates/
Arnova G1 firmwares work pretty much like the G2 when it comes to unpacking/repacking.

I think there is good chance that my custom firmware (codename Kasty) already has Arctools links in the system image and the mkdir in the boot image, that was my best results in getting everything packaged so far.
It would surely benefit some upgrades with your work, to get more space for data and a r/w system.
Still, I remember reading some people had stability issues with ext3fs on the Rockchip 2818 devices, so that would need some extensive testing. I still have my Arnova 10b (G1) if needed
When I am done with current Arctools fixes; it would be great to have a full line of proper custom firmwares for all Arnova products (G2 and if possible G1) thanks to your work.

Yes I am kinda waiting for your final input to make my next ROMs. 🙂
I know, been busy with improving the forum and site and other stuff.
I'll make my best to finish my Arctools modifications asap.
For the Arnova 10b, the flashing process is detailed in the Kasty link.

Booting in recovery works the same as the 10G2, and the Rockchip Flash tool is here:
/blog/archos-tablet/flashing-firmware-rockchip-cpu-based-devices-archos-ht-7-8-arnova-10/
I never used RKAndroidTool 1.29 on G1 devices, no idea if it will work...

Thanks, I was just going to ask how you flash this thing since I bet that an update.img will not work due to the structure changes just like the RK29. So that might be another reason for instability is going to ext3 requires the image def block to be erased.
However I can make an update.img that is flashed with RKBtach tool and that will work. You just cant do the simple copy to the sd card. So I will go that route or see if I can find the RKAndroid tool for RK28.
Admin can you do me a quick favor please. Put your 10b in recovery and see if the RKAndroid tool will say "found RK device" at the bottom. Just in case we have to go that route.

Correct, boot image is in cramfs, system image should be too.
My main reference to work on these images is that link:

If you still have troubles, let me know, I'll check on my other dev. computer for my old scripts.

It appears the recovery system for update.img (not the flash tool) decrypts the system.img before flashing. I am still looking for how to unpack this thing as I prefer to use a stock ROM to start with. Reading that thread you sent me on archos fans, everyone is using a system.img that came from someones dump through ADB. I hoping someone figured out how to unpack the stock one or I maybe stuck with the same unless I can get a full clean install dump of system.img from a tablet.
In rkboard.rc it is being mounted as cramfs so it is clear the recovery system is decrypting it before putting /system in the tablet..

Confirmed that the recovery system decrypts the system.img:
From XDA:
-- system.img in update.img (for RK2818) is encrypted. it is decrypted by flash program for Windows, or self update function (recovery program in recovery partition), then flashed into system partition.
OK so the other problem is the mageupload links to the stock system ADB dump no longer works. I would prefer to start fresh and not use the kasty system.img please.
Anyone know where I can get a stock ROM (latest version) system.img dump? please?
