hi guys, have read a lot of your posts here and have allready gained valuable information, for which i thank you.
i purchased an Arnova10b g3 tablet last week (on offer in maplins for 150 quid)
happy with the thing so far, but havnt really investigated too much.
my problem is i can seem to connect to the pc with it.
i have used the cable that came with it (micro usb to standard usb) but no matter what i do or which computer i use it does not appear under my pc. looking further into the menu in the explorer section i see my usb is unmounted. i assume i need to mount this but dont appear to have the option.
i have an external sd card that mounts and unmounts ok.
i have been told its possible because i havnt got an "on the go" lead ?
surely the lead that came with would be right ? when i went back to the shop, their technical guys told me you couldnt connect the tablet to pc (ime sure they are very untechnical) as the first thing the "non" extensive user guide says is to plug in to pc and update firmware - but that is a question for later !!
any help appreciated.
shaun.
OTG cables are made to connect USB peripherals to your tablet, it's not needed to connect to the PC.
A plain micro-usb cable should work fine.
On a PC running Windows Vista or Win7, you should see the tablet in your explorer, in the Portable Devices section when you list all drives, as it uses the MTP protocol.

thanks for the nice quick reply.
i have tried using a different lead on a different pc with no success.
in my menu under storage, sd card is mounted, below sd card options i have usb option "mount sd card"
in the explorer menu ime still being told my usb is unmounted.
would these mount automatically if i was connected properly to the pc, i am beginning to suspect a faulty usb port on the tablet, i dont really have any way to test this at the moment. have just ordered an otg cable so i can plug in a keyboard and test that way.
so either ime thinking user (me)Â is stupid and cant work out how to mount usb, or have a technical issue.
thanks again.

I am new to tablets and basically need advice plugging cables in Can I plug in a Usb memory stick or mouse if I buy a different cable? What kind do I need and will it work?
The micro USB port on the Arnova 10b G3 has USB Host capability, so you should be able to connect a USB Host (sometimes referred as USB OTG cable) such as the one listed here: Â http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/bluetooth-gps-support-arnova-g2-tablets/
One end will go in the tablet micro usb connector, the other end is a female USB full size connector where you can plug your USB mouse or USB memory stick. If the mouse is a plain wired model, it should be supported without problem, for the memory stick it depends... most work, but some don't, you'll have to try and see by yourself.
Please let us know how it goes.
Cheers.

Thank you very much You are a star lol Was really stuck. Just wanted to be able to transfer stuff of a memory stick without always using the pc
You mentioned a mouse Not thought of that But the keyboard seems very jumpy and I end up with strange words
Cant seem to find one through Apps Lib though.
Archos Arnova 10b 3g
USB wired keyboard should work as well, I tested that a while ago on an Arnova 10 G2 and had no problem.
I agree Arnova web site and user guide aren't much for support, even for basic things.

Hello All,
Â
Just got a new Arnova 10b G3 and I am facing the same problem as described by migoplumber. The device does not show up on the computer. I have windows 7. Any help will be appreciated. If it sia dead port, I will be dead too  since I bought it in US and cannot return it. Any suggestions please
Hello,
I have a question. Every type of micro usb I try to use fails and dosen't seem to connect to my tablet. I am really frustrated and I really, really need help! Thanks
My Arnova 10b g3 specs:
1gHz of ram, a rockchip 2918 processor
8gb of flash storage
1 microSD slot
4.1.1 Jelly Bean
I suppose you are referring to the USB OTG feature ?
Does the connection from your tablet to your computer thru a USB cable work ?
Cheers.

Yea but after a while i lost the cable. So i looked on the internet and apparently they supplied a micro usb to usb port hub. so I tried connecting that and it failed. I tried using my bro's old spare cables and no luck aswell.

Also, Is there a place specifically designed for arnova micro usb repairs because I diagnosed my tablet and managed to find that the micro usb pin had broken from its original position
