Following the recent problems reported by some users on the Arnova 10b G3 custom forum topic, we've disabled the custom firmware download for the moment.

The following warning have been added:

This firmware is for the Arnova 10b G3 capacitive screen model only, don’t flash it if you have a resistive (DT or Dual Touch) model. Some problems have been reported with our custom firmware on Arnova 10b G3 tablets bought in Germany, Belgium and Holland, we are currently investigating the problem and hope to provide a fix very soon.
Following the increasing problems of users not reading these warning and breaking their devices, we’ve decided to remove the custom firmware download for the moment. We will put it back when the firmware issue with the newer Arnova 10b G3 is clarified, sorry for the inconvenience.

If you have recently bought an Arnova 10b G3 tablet in Germany, Belgium or Holland, we'll need your help to get a firmware dump of your tablet (Linux system required). Getting your firmware dump will let us prepare a new custom firmware for the Arnova 10b G3 tablets that don't support our custom firmware (the touchscreen doesn't work).

We do not have any details on how to recognize if your 10b G3 tablet that will fail with our custom firmware, but we should be able to find out from your tablet dump if it's the regular model or the newer one. Also, it would be interesting to post your Build number in the forum, go to Settings / About tablet and copy the line Build number here.

Thanks for your help.

Are you able to provide a firmware dump from your new tablet? That would be great!

I get an error message when i run the dump script:

i try it at the instruction from http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/firmware-development/dumping-firmware-on-arnova-g2-arnova-g3-and-other-rockchip-based-tablets/

the error message is:

libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/002/006: Permission denied.
libusb requires write access to USB device nodes.
rkflashtool: fatal: cannot open device

Looking at your previous message, it seems you have a very recent model:  rk29sdk-eng 4.0.3 IML74K eng.root.20120523.095438 test-keys

The other dumps we have for now are like 2 months older.

We need root access on your computer for low level access to the usb.

Please run:

sudo perl ./an10g2_dump.pl

You'll be prompted for your password. in case you want more info on sudo, have a look at Wikipedia: sudo

Fingers crossed, let's hope you make it !
Wink

All we need is backup.img, if you can zip it and send the file thru a file upload service, such as http://demo.ovh.com/

if you're having problems, I'll give you access to our private upload.

Thanks a lot for your help Wink

Same problem Confused (same link actually)

Does it work for somebody else ?

I'm wondering if OVH could limit the download to German users only ?

If that's the case, sorry about that, any way to upload it elsewhere ?

Cheers.

Downloading now... will let you know how it goes.

Just so I get the history... you have 2 tablets right ? The one you dumped the firmware has Build-Nummer: rk29sdk-eng 4.0.3 IML74K eng.root.20120523.095438 test-keys ? Have you installed any custom firmware on this one, is your tablet still booting ?

Cheers.
