Globula - I tried both 1.4 & 1.5 - both gave same effect. How far back would you go?

Hi all,

Firstly, great work to all those supporting the builds and each other here.

I've been using v41a of the custom ROM from this thread for a while but have got stuck with the internal storage so checked back and found you've developed v42. Have tried to install it following same procedure as last time (using the RockChip tool) and I fear I've bricked the device as neither the stock, v41 or v42 will load. I think I'm probably doing something daft but perhaps someone will recognise what and give me a pointer!

Put tablet into recovery - Rockchip shows green, select extracted ROM img file (any of the three above) and get the following result in the log file:

23:09:12 532 Rockchip Batch Tool v1.5.3.0 start run

Just wondering if this triggers any thoughts for anyone on what I've done wrong and how to correct please?

Many thanks Chris

I have bricked mine to the point that I could no longer load any of the custom ROMs.  I flashed the stock rom (found somewhere in this forum) and it loaded fine. Afterwards I was able to load the v42 ROM with no problems.

Hope this helps.

Thanks mcsgeek - tried that but no joy. Used v1.29 (with 1.29 drivers) to erase the IDB, then uninstalled drivers, rebooted, installed 1.5 drivers and tried a restore to stock with that. Same error..

Anyone else got any suggestions?

My last suggestions is to try on another computer using another usb cable.
If that does not work, i think your nand (internal memory) is damaged.

Hi!  Just used Arctools to install the firmwear update.    Makes a big difference!

I saw upthread a version that has been modified to alter the memory usage/free up more app memory.   I am somewhat uncomfortable using rockchip and flashing manually like that.   Bad experience on previous equipment with other software.

Any chance of getting a package with the "memory" update for the Arctools method?

Thanks!

i've hadd my arnova 10b 3g, for about a year. usd arc tools to make the app memory 512mb, but it has never let me use it all. there was a definite increase in the number of apps i could install, but i reach about 320mb, and i can,t seem to use any more - even updates to apps fail.

when i check apps memory in settings, it shows about 60mb free, then seems to recalculate and show about200mb free, but i still can't update or install apps until i remove some apps.

i love my arnova, love the firmware and big thanks to admin for it, but any help appreciated.

OK this is driving me nuts too.

So, I have an Arnova 10BG3 and I rather like the look of the jellybean custom firmware.

I downloaded the firmware, downloaded the flash tool, watched the videos, read the instructions ...

The thing that is missing from your instructions is when to connect the USB cable to the tablet.

SO I have the tablet connected to the PC, and I shut it down. My speakers make the usual "ker-thunk" noise as the USB connection is "lost". As this point with the tablet off I fire up the flashing tool and yes I ran it as admin because this is w7.

Next I push the volume+ button as instructed , THEN put the paperclip in the reset hole while holding down the volume+ key. And I count to about 30. Then I remove the paperclip and let go of the volume+ key.

Within about a second my PC makes the ker-pling sound as a new USB device is found, then disaster, a big box saying "usb device not recognised" and error 43 windows stopped this as the device reported problems.

I mentioned running the program as administrator in w7.

I also have an XP machine. I tried with that and get the same "usb device not recognised" error.

I get the same error if I try resetting with the tablet on, and if I leave the uSB cable out and connect it after I release the paperclip and volume+ key.

I also tried releasing the volume+ key before taking out the paperclip, no joy.

I salute our venerable poster of a few posts back. Madam, your achievements are made all the more remarkable by the fact I am perhaps not quite a decade your junior, but I have spent the last three decades as a computer programmer of all things from missiles to radars to bank call centre websites.

And I cannot get this (expletive deleted) piece of .... (ok i am sure you get the idea, I'm sure I need not draw you a picture, right?)

And I managed to root, back out an Hboot, set up an SOFF and put cyanogenmod on an HTC wildfire and root a galaxy Ace i so it's not as if I'm a newcomer to this poke that push this business. with these pieces of so calle technology.

So what in the wide wide world of sport am I doing wrong to repeatedly get these USB not recognised error messages ?

download a terminal app, and type in the terminal
reboot bootloader
wait for the tablet to reboot, connect the tablet to the pc (the screen should be black all the time when you are in flashing mode) install the drivers
open rockchip tools, chose the update.img, use restore to flash

you should try what you said in the upper rows without connecting the tablet to any type of power source, do this only if the above method does not work.

You can try also by installing adb, the command :

adb reboot bootloader

will get the tablet in flashing mode
