My shiny new 10b G3 8GB Arnova tablet arrived in my afternoon mail from Adorama
Can't say too much yet. Visited the app store and installed '700 Solitaires' free app.
The touch response is definitely faster and smoother. My wife has snagged it and refuses to quite playing Klondike I. It also came with 'Angry Birds" and a full screen of apps
Hopefully Linda falls asleep early tonight and I will get my hands on the little devil so's I have some serious computer time on it.
My Arnova 10 G2 4GB has become the sole possession of my 87 year old mother-in-law for game playing. I am now officially her number 1 son-in-law.
Anyway I will report more soon. Also answer any questions if I can
do you have the knowlodge to perform a rom dump ?
AlleyTrotter, thanks for your report, feel free to let us know how you like the device as you discover it.
The 10b G3 feels a bit faster than the 10 G2, I have just made some benchmarks that confirm that.
We'll release a custom firmware for the Arnova 10b G3 soon, so you can have Google Play / Android Market if you need it...
globula_neagra: stock firmware dump and custom firmware almost ready.

Never tried to do one, but I am somewhat of a old whizkid at computers. Started on a TRS-80 Model I. Currently running Slackware Linux 13.37 on my system.
But I am not a Guru
Would be glad to try if you explain
it seems that we allreadyd have the dump for the 10b g3 wait for admin to post a guide of flashing the new modded rom (the works is in progress)
I may also be interested in creating my own custom firmware, would that be something supported by this community?
We'll try to help if you need any assistance on the firmware building process.
Some documentation has been started by our forum members: http://www.arctablet.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Mainly check Steve (ttz642t) scripts: http://www.arctablet.com/wiki/index.php/Rksp
If you're familiar with Unix system, have some programming notions and can find some time to experiment (it sometimes involves some trial and errors) it should not be too hard working with Rockchip firmwares. There are a many bits of documentation on the subject over the web, but I haven't yet found a comprehensive guide.
We'll hopefully improve our documentation over time, everybody is welcome to help on the WIKI.
Hi there. Just picked up the 10b g3 today. A little slower than I would have liked (especially on this site it seems 🙂 ) but I wasn't expecting miracles for the price. Looking forward to the new firmware and the ability to install Play and gmail specifically.
Just out of interest how are new firmwares made available? Through Arctools or is that only for pre-rooted devices? If its the later is there's a good guide for rooting?
First post, but just wanted to echo dlicence's post above, except I have a new ARNOVA 9 g3.
Please keep us posted on the custom firmware, and likewise as a newbie to Android, a step-by-step guide to updating firmware would be fantastic.
(I am guessing that the 10g and 9 g3 will be able to use the same firmware?)
