Well thats what SU and superuser.apk does which I install as part of my rooted ROM.

When an app is trying to get root access you get a pop up asking to allow it or not. You can go into superuser settings and select DENY and that will not allow access.... superuiser.apk is the free version I install. I think if you buy the elite version you can password protect root access... I am not sure because I don't have elite version.

Bottom line this is already available through SU and superuser.apk.

Rich, you need to install my rooted ROM to see how that works... Until then your not getting the idea of SU.

Yes it was. I was able to take that one back as it "broke" after 3 days.

Wow first ROM of mine no one tried in 24 hrs.... I know you guys are all scared to do it but with Rich's dump I beleive I do have a fall back update.img. Just like the 9 G2 which they also did not have a Arnova fall back ROM, my ROM worked and when there was trouble I quickly fixed it for them.

I know it's scary but if it screws up, I will help you the best I can to get unbricked. Again based on doing 3 ROMs for tablets I do not have and my ROMs working for them, I feel this will work for you all too.

As you can see I am into this ROM cooking very much so don't think because it "may" not work I wont help you. All I can say is I cannot gaurentee it nor gaurentee I can get you back. Only that I will spend a bunch of time helping make sure you can get back working as best I can.

I know for sure we had some users a few weeks ago that bricked using my 10 G2 ROM because they tried it on their 10b G2. So eventually I know someone will try it but I have to say I am a little dissapointed no one has tried it or reported back. Again it's not like I will leave you all hanging 🙂

Anyway like any of my ROM's I am on pins and needles waiting for the first person to try it. So for me it's just a love of life and the work to help you all! Thus I am just waiting for news....

As for Market please use Arctool 0.57 and use 3.4.4 Rooted install from the drop down list.

I was not scared, just been working then laptop crashed and had to get that replaced. Works so far, just installed market, gmail and downloading more apps. Can we install newer market with this rom?

Market 3.4.4 is the best I know of right now... Thanks Lee! Glad to know my ROM works! Let me know if I can help in any way with other stuff like Market install.

Well yeah, I'll admit I'm a little scared to try it. I've rooted a Nook Color before, but that's the extent of my rooting.

This 10b G2 will be a gift for my kid, so really I'm just trying to figure out if rooting will provide me any advantages. It can connect to wifi, play all the angry birds and other games, and plays videos....I don't need it to do much more than that for him. Besides, I drove 30 miles to pick it up at the only store that had it in stock, so returning and getting a replacement would be a pain, and a crapshoot as to whether they'll have one to exchange.

Seems as if the 10b G2 is still fairly new without a lot of people actually having it. Funny, I think it's a nice tablet for $150.

I will be honest with you... If all you want to do is play angry birds and let your kid enjoy the tabelet, seriously there is no reason to install my ROM.

I finally had time to install your rooted system and it worked a treat!

Well done! Thank you so much!

Now to reinstall the software I was using.

I installed Arctool 0.57 and use 3.4.4 Rooted install as you advsed and everything is working great

Speaking of software...

Where can I find all the stuff that was on the tablet before, not that I want all of it installed but the wife was enamored of the thing that had all of the movie trailers, ?cinepack I think? and frankly I never even looked at the rest of it, can I extract the list of apps (or perhaps even the installers?) from my backups and pick and choose?

Hi finless.

I aprecciate your work but I have the 10b G2 4Gb model with the capacitive screen. There are a lot of people (including myself) willing to try a rooted firmware for the capacitive one because they have bricked their tablets after installing the 10 G2 firmware from Arnova's Website or just because they want to install the Android Market and Google apps.

We know about the huge work you all make every day to keep us "updated" Wink , so you can be sure we aren't scared at all Laugh

I will need someone to dump backup.img from a capacitive tablet for me to be able to make a ROM. Rich provided a backup.img from his resistive screen tablet so someone has to do the same from the capactivie.

Well, there are 2 people with success, so I guess I'll probably end up testing this ROM.

I really wanted to avoid having to create any sort of google account before giving it as a gift, but I need to install a few more apps that aren't available from the appslib (youtube, vevo, etc). I guess I'll have to look into removing the account info after I get it all set up
