I've been reading and reading and have not been able to determine if the 10 g2 and the 10b g2 are the same as far as the firmware is concerned.
Can anyone clarify this for me? Will I brick my unit if I use that firmware? is it possible to "un-brick" one of these units?
Is there a FAQ somewhere that I missed?
The rule usually is different devices, different firmwares.
These two seem quite close, but there are probably some small hardware changes (touchscreen, driver).
Flashing a 10bG2 with a 10G2 firmware will probably brick the device, at least one forum user here has reported it. Unbrick should be doable with Rockchip Flashing tool (see pinned topics in this Arnova 10 G2 forum).
It's probably wiser to wait for a specific firmware and instructions for an Arnova 10b G2 firmware.

Ok, I'm pretty well frustrated,
I cant find a shell on the appslib that isnt a gui pos, any suggestions whre can I find just a plain old bash shell? (and how to load it?)
Using loopbot android command shell or loopbot android shell terminal (the only shells a search turns up) ls- l works but ls -al fails with no such file or directory as do most of the other parameters to ls -l works but none of the rest of the parameters work
mkdir wont work anywhere I can get to.
I'd be happy to mount /backup but I can't make a directory (anywhere I can find) to mount it to...
using mount /backup prints out a page long list, actually It seems like mount isn't taking parameters at all, it returns the same list no mater what I put on the command line.
I can't even do an ls of a folder (ls /etc or ls /root) and get a result
arctools wont install (can't make a directory and then a file copy fails)
I have unix and linux experience (as well as bsd) but this is different enough to be very frustrating or is it the shell?
sorry to vent! thanks for the help.
You will need adb (google sdk) in order to make a dump and running adb shell should give you a #.
On the device you have no root privileges, so installing a terminal app is useless.
Please use the following method to make a dump:
An alternative way to create a dump (linux only):
I'm sorry but I need more instruction, the .zip and instructions you linked are fine but I have no idea how to get the file in the zip -- rkdump -- (no extension) to execute without a command line, when i select it in the file manager it asks me what program to run it in, and none of them make sense other than the installer which does not work.
I installed z4root and it results in a white screen that dosen't do anything and
When I use the android terminal to try to run it I get,
./rkdump: permission denied
or without the path
rkdump: permission denied
When I try to chmod it to 777 I get
unable to chmod rkdump operation not permitted
And as a note/google-play-market-arnova8-g3, I'm assuming that this is a shell and I will be able to issue the commands on that page in it?
I really would like to understand this but I don't have enough information here.
