Hello to all Arnova 10 4GB resistive screen owners. I've owned my Arnova 10 for almost 2 weeks now. I had read reviews on the site of the reseller I bought it from saying how great the upgrade to 2.2 Froyo was and how it gave access to the Google Market. I tried the 2.2 ROM and had some stability problems. Also, I found that I could not install Flash, so there goes any hope of running Netflix on my Arnova 10. There were other programs, apps if you will, that would not install from the Google Marketplace. I tried ArcTools and it wouldn't work. I tried the Flash 2.1 installer that is linked to from the arctablet.com site. Nothing seemed to work. Are there any other custom ROMs for this tablet that will be of benefit to me and presumably others? I really would like to have the Android Market work with all programs installable and Flash, also.[Image Can Not Be Found]

Just so you know, there are some great programs  on the AppsLib. I really like TuneIn and IMO.

Our Kasty version 0.5 (custom Android 2.2 Froyo firmware) is currently the best we have. When time permits, we'll try to improve the firmware. There may be also other options in the future with an Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware, still far from stable tough.

About Adobe Flash, it's probably hopeless as there are currently no decent Flash support for Arnova (first generation) devices, the CPU being too slow to play complex Flash animations.

Thanks for the news, Admin. I was afraid of the Flash being a non-starter with this unit. It's my first Android anything and I've been learning a lot. One thing, though, this unit does play videos and sound files quite well. The chat clients, I like IMO, and other applications are pretty good. For the money, it's still a lot of tablet. It was a few weeks ago when I first posted here. Time for an update. Since I had so much trouble with the 2.2 Froyo ROM, I went back to the latest ROM from the Arnova site. Last week, I decided to try the custom 2.1 Eclair ROM from arctablet.com. Works great! No issues at all. It allows you to use the Android Market with no problems, although you should be aware that not all applications in the Android Market will work with this Arnova 10 tablet. Flash just won't work, but there are You Tube apps which work great and allow you to see You Tube videos just fine. The longer I work with this tablet, the more I like it.

Thanks for the update.

We have received both positive and negative feedback for our Arnova 10 Froyo firmware. It seems a lot of users choose to come back to Android 2.1.

We'll try to update our custom firmware based on the latest official Android 2.1 firmware from Arnova.

There are also some hopes on the CM7 Android 2.3 firmware that gets better every day. We'll publish an update as soon as it's stable enough for public usage.

Hello, just another update in my experimenting with the Arnova 10. Still using the 2.1 Eclair custom ROM from arctablet.com and it seems to be very stable. I haven't had any more problems than I did with the latest update ROM from Arnova. This one at least allows for rooting and gives easy access to the Android Market.

I'd sure love to see the CM7 ROM become very stable for the Arnova 10 and I'd really love to be able to run flash player on my Arnova 10 so I could use Netflix on this unit.

Not so good news regarding the CM7, the main developer (fun_) just stopped the CM7 dev on RK2818, he is now focusing on RK2918 (G2 devices). Hopefully someone will take over and continue to fix and optimize fun's work.

On Arctablet side, we'll try to provide an update of our Eclair 2.1 firmware with root and Market when time permits. There are maybe some options to try for flash, but it won't be fast and stable enough to allow graphics intensive tasks...

Very bad news... I would love to test 2.3 on my arnova 10.... 🙁  Is there a small hope that somebody could release something, even not 100% functional, I don't care about camera, etc...

Merry Chrismast !
