I've bought this tablet as a gift for a member of the family, and seeing as I'm the 'go-to guy' for technology in my family, I'll likely be asked to set it up.
I'm not interested in rooting the device with a custom ROM, but I would like to know how to setup a hotmail account on the device.
It would be a huge amount of hassle switching to gmail, so that's out the question. This is the first Android device (phone or tablet) that I've had my hands on, so be nice
Short. Snappy. Memorable. Eye-catching. Instantly Recognizable.
You may want to try the Email application with the following parameters:
POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995) use SSL
Username: your Windows Live ID, for ex. firstname.lastname@example.org
As password, use the one you are using to connect Hotmail or Windows Live.
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (port 25 or 587). TLS authentification.
same login and password as POP3.
I haven't tried it myself as I am using Gmail.
The Email application on the tablet being very basic, you may prefer other option such as the free K9 mail advanced email client for Android http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/
There are also application such as Hotmail or Better Hotmail on Android Market, if you want to try the Market
