It appears that Flash Player 11 doesn't play nice with the Arnova. Here's a link to download 10.1 & remember to never allow Market to update it 🙂 http://attachments.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=330657&d=1274572901

Use 10.3 and do allow (appslib?) to update it to a newer version of 10.3 than came with it.

Beware of firmware updates that may nuke flash or appslib. Somehow I managed to back these up to .apk

Is this the case for a tablet that hasn't been rooted? Can I disable auto-update?

Short. Snappy. Memorable. Eye-catching. Instantly Recognizable.

Don't worry about auto anything. I meant apps can get nuked by your manual replacement of the firmware. That's unlike it's mother company archos which keeps the apps installed during firmware updates.  Anyway on the stock arnova firmware you can still uninstall flash11 and flash 10.3 will magically re-appear.
