hi all, softly softly please, just bought the Arnova 10.1 G2 for my 3 year old grandaughter's main xmas present. Preloading some games for her and run into a memory issue.

Yes it's only 4gb but I've slotted an 8gb SD in there, so surprised to see the following scenario.

Loaded a few games, 9 in fact, nothing fancy, then moved them to SD, which currently reports some 7.5gb available. However now when I try to load more games the tablet refuses to load them, reporting low memory as the reason.

As i've moved the loaded games to SD, leaving the onboard memory clear, why can I not now load more games into it? (it's as if it's not clearing the memory address so preventing access)

Other than the games on the SD card the machine now has the same memory availabe as when I first fired it up, so why can I now not load more games ?

I feel I must be missing something simple here and just know the eggs on it's way so I've covered my face!

Are you running the stock firmware or the updated rooted firmware?  It's a know issue with the rooted firmware!  I am sure they will fix it soon but for now that is an issue.

You must have downloaded the root software without reading the discussion about how it nukes appspace.  There are some ways mentioned to partly help, but for the time being consider the unrooted market approach which leaves you with gigantic app space (as discussed under it's topic).

This has nothing to do with your sdcard capacity. Apps go in a little onboard 256mb area. You can push parts of them to either an onboard directory called sdcard or the actual card itself. Whichever is irrelevant because there is no meaningful capacity contraint there.

You can only push so much to "sdcard". Available app space will always be limited. Moderately so with stock firmware, extremely so with current rooted firmware, maybe less so with future firmware.

Everything can be monitored in that screen settings/applications/manage applications/downloaded where I think you have been anyway. But look at the bottom, where it tells how much appspace avail out of 256. BTW I find I have to leave about 50mb free or else everything runs slow.

Hold it vertically and click options to get things sorted by size (remaining size after part of the app was pushed to "sdcard"). Click the top offenders of space and see if they can be pushed to sdcard. Some take several tries for some reason. Some can't be pushed at all, and you may want to uninstall a bloated offender that isn't that useful. You can back them up first with tools like es file explorer.
