Hello everyone, I was trying to flash a new firmware on my ARNOVA 10 G2 Tablet, I have both: Rokchip Batch Tool and RKAndroidTool v 1.29.

I used for this the tutorial from arctablet forum, but I forgot to leave the AC charger plugged in while intstalling a new OS.

Firstly I installed the same firmware (without AC power) that I had before, but secondly, when I tryed to install a rooted firmware, the installation did not finished correctly and my device started to have some problems (difficulties) for recognition on the PC by USB.

I thought that this problem was caused by an incorrect key¬†manipulation¬†and I tried a few other manipulations also: like VOL- & reset, Power & reset, Power & VOL-, Power & VOL+, but still nothing. ūüôā (of course)

At that moment the recognition was still possible, but time to time the device became unrecognizable at all by the PC.

The only message that I get now is "one of the USB devices malfunctioned" on my Windows 7 based PC (when I push VOL+ button & reset, with or without AC power supply). No button is functional, I can't turn the tablet on.

I there a way to bring it round? Thanks in advance...

The right procedure is pressing Vol+ and reset, other key combinations won't work.

Make sure your tablet is connected directly to your computer and not thru an USB Hub.

Maybe you have some driver installation issues, you can use USBDeview to uninstall drivers for selected devices then run again the flashing tool and install the drivers.

We are in the process of completing the Rockchip Flashing tool article with a video of the process, together with adding a troubleshooting section, but that won't be ready immediately.

Thanks a lot but anyway, I still get the code 43 (windows has stoped the device...) Are there other "secret" key combinations for this device that can help me?

I have no USB hub, and the tablet was recognizable before...

Maybe it crashed definitely?

I'll try same thing on another computer to be sure that this isn't my computer's issue.

The only thing I get on my tablet is a green light while charging and a red light while pressing restart or VOL+ & restart.

The power LED turning green just mean its fully charged, it's normal that it turns turn red when doing the reset procedure.

I am not sure if I understand right, you already managed to run the Rockchip flashing tool on your PC and use it to flash the tablet initially ?

Yes, that's right.

I already used it and I installed an "original" update.img file (without AC power supply).

After that, I used RK29update to install a custom ROM but I got a firmware download error message & after several "experiments" and error messages on different steps: IDB download, Test Device and so on I tried to reuse the Rockchip flashing tool to (at least) reinstall my original Android OS, but Rockchip became also unable to complete the installation.

I think that was a kind of USB communication problem.

Considering you already managed to flash that device with Rockchip flashing tool, your issue does not sound too good Confused

I wonder if the tablet power stopping had some impact on the flash memory that may have been damaged.

I'll post if I find other options for you to try.

Well, this looks like a damaged flash memory, maybe because of the power failure.

You should be able to get the tablet fixed using the product warranty.

Great ROM

At long last I've got this process sussed. Just in case anyone else out there has struggled to get their Arnova 10g2 running like it should, the key part is below:

Plug the power cable and USB cable into your Arnova 10 G2. You should plug the other end of the USB cable into the computer and the power into the wall socket. Stick a paperclip into the reset slot and hold the reset button down.Push and hold the Volume + key. So now you are depressing the reset button and the Volume + button. Wait 15 seconds and release the reset button, but still hold the Volume + key.Give the device a few moments to cycle on. The screen will remain black. This black screen is the only visual proof that the Arnova is in recovery mode. You can release the Volume + button.

You must have the power cable in even it your tablet is well charged. The screen remaining black is the recovery mode and NOT as I kept on thinking like my Android phones where you have a typically blue font clockwork mod type screen with various options headed up Recover 1.37 or another number. You need to get a black screen to be in recovery mode. Then the rockchip batch tool will recognise the tablet once you have connected the tablet to the PC via USB cable and it will show as connected within the rockchip batch tool program.

Hope this helps anyone who was banging their head against the wall as I was for quite a while!!
