Good Evening All,

I was wondering if you could help me. I have a similar issue to krispy here:

Arnova 10 G2 bricked after firmware upgrade

However mine seems to be in a continuous loops of restarting.

I get the Arnova logo then 6 dottes/dashed lines across the top of the screen.

I have tried the method mentioned in the above post however due to the continuous restarting I can't seem to get the device to stay on long enough for me to install drivers of for the RKBatchTool.exe to detect it.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Rockchip flashing tool manipulation is a bit tricky, we are working on a tutorial with a video to get the procedure easy to follow, it will hopefully be published in the next days, please keep checking the Blog.

From the tutorial for older tablets (RK2818 based), please make sure you are doing as follows:

Run RKAndroidBatchUpgrade. Put a paperclip in the reset pinhole, and push volume UP button(not down button) for about 15 seconds. Then connect the USB cable. The computer should ask for the driver and select the advance funtion to install the corrected driver for your tablet .

/blog/archos-tablet/flashing-firmware-rockchip-cpu-based-devices-archos-ht-7-8-arnova-10/

The tablet screen should turn black after the paperclip has been push for a few seconds.

Edit 2011/11/24: In case it wasn't clear, you need to use this specific Rockchip Flashing Tool for RK2918 machines:

The process is exactly as you said.

However I was being stupid about one step. When I pressed the reset button and held down the volume up I kept on holding in the reset button, this did nothing. Just a note for anyone else let go of the reset button as soon as you have pressed the volume up. Hopefully there aren't many as stupid as me out there.

That's not stupid, your just try to follow a poorly documented procedure [Image Can Not Be Found]

We hope to get enough feedback and tips on the current procedure to make a good reference document for the firmware flashing tool on RK2918.

guys, im having massive trouble with this.

i just bought the arnova 10g2 and put the update.img on root folder, and it started firmware upgrade, as it should.

however, the tablet's screen went off, and since then, it hasnt come on again.

ive tried pressing reset, reset + UP and it recognises something has been connected in windows, but windows is refusing to install the rockchip driver in the .zip given above.

i do not get a splash screen, it remains on the blank screen all the time. the only way i know its turned on, is when i connect the micro usb cable and it makes the usb connected sound, then does not find the driver, and does not let me manually update it.

please help!

ive tried the things above, i put the pin in reset, leave it in, press up and immediately release reset, continue pressing the up for 15 seconds, then let go, connect the micro usb, and after a few seconds, usb device not recognised.

thanks for helping guys, i need to get this sorted, as it is a gift for someone on wednesday 🙁

Munzab, sorry for the troubles you are going thru [Image Can Not Be Found]

You seem to properly run the recovery procedure and the USB connection sound gives can give some hope about the tablet rescue.

Can you check that you are selecting the right driver upon device detection ?

If possible, can you also try the Rockchip flashing tool on another machine, preferrably Windows XP (32 bits) ?

thanks for replying so fast.

i did try this on an xp home machine, and i had the same troubles unfortunately…

im not sure about right driver, what happens is, when i connect it, the popup near the time in the right bottom (windows 7) says usb device not recognised.

i have to go to device manager, right click that usb icon with the exclamation mark and right click properties or update driver, then can i go to the rockchip tools 1.4 driver folder and select win 7 folder.

however, it says the driver is up to date and wont install that driver. it remains at the exclamation mark.

if i try to "force" that driver installation by going to manual, have disk, i get the error that this might not be a windows 32 driver issue coming up and same thing again

I got the driver installed using XP Mode VM in Win7 64.  I am on win7 64 bit and no 64 bit dirver for RK29 yet.   I had no choice other than to reboot into Win7 32 bit dual boot which I did not want to spend time setting up.

However I was having that exact same problem when the G2 was not in the proper mode!  It sounds to me like you are not in recovery mode but in regular mode. Since you are bricked right now it is hard to tell which mode your in since your screen in either mode is black.  So make sure you do the reset pin hole and hold down the volume up.  You must hold volume up for a while.  At first you will hear the hardware connected tone but keep holding the volume up and after a bit you will get a second hardware connected tone that is different e.g. like 2-3 dongs in fast succession.

thanks bob for your help. ive tried your suggestions as above.

i spent 2 hours installing xp mode on a w7 32bit and i still cant get this to recognise any devices.

could you walk me exactly how to get into debug mode?

i guess the first thing is: how do i make sure ive turned off the device? then, do i have to connect the power supply or just press reset?when do i connect micro usb?

that kind of walkthrough would be helpful as the first step to even get to the 3 dongs.

windows 7 in the xp mode, recognised something was attached but the whole usb device malfunction came up. windows xp however did not even recognise something was attached.

any ideas?
