Dear all

Just installed a custom firmware. Wish I never did...I can't seem to get my Arnova 10 G2 4gb on at all. When I plug it in the green light comes on, but nothing after that helps. Reset button? Nothing... Pressing the reset button and hold Volume Up for 15 secs...Nothing! I think I have to get it back to the retailer and pay if this means the guarantee is void.

$&!@

Thanx for any response.

You can try to go to Arnova page, download the default firmware for the 10G2:

http://arnovatech.com/support/firmware/2/arnova10g2/111010/update.img

Then try to flash it with this tool:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/

It should work even if the device is apparently dead.

Tried it...did not work. My computer recognises my device as a RK9 after installing the proper drivers. But the flash tool just does not see the connection so it cannot flash it.

I have win7 64bit.

Hope you can reply pretty quick for I may want to go to the store where I bought it and put on an honest face :-S.

And now it just won't do anything. When I plug it into the net the green light shows. When I reset and press the volume+ for 15 secs and then insert the usb, there's no signal that there's a connection. My guess was then back when I did get a usb connection, the device was not in flash-mode. Or whatever that mode is called...

The green light suggests the battery is fully loaded?

I am about to go to the store...

Okay...

after a little wait I got nothing further, but am able to explain a little more detail about what's happening.

First:

Now, when I push the reset just once, i hear that the USB connection is lost. The standard deconnection sound of Windows 7. Right after that, it connects again with another familiair windows 7 sound. And after that the hardware is connected as an RK29 device.

Second:

Then, when I hold down the reset button and the volume+ button at the same time, for 15 secs...again the disconnection sound, releasing them after 20 secs (just to be sure) the connection sound. But still the same...THe Flashing tool does not see the connection so I can not flash the device.

Third:

When I press the reset once, release it...I hear the disconnection sound...then quickly I hold down the volume+ button without holding the reset button (maybe I misinterpreted it). The connection sound now does not sound. And after I release the volume+ button, still no connection sound. And again nothing when I press the reset button once again. No connection. Now it looks dead, except for the green light indicating a full battery.

Hope these details help!

Thanks for all these details.

Your first option where the flashing tool says that the device is connected is right.

This is when you should select the firmware to upload and press upgrade button.

See step 4 in the flasher tutorial.

Damn, sorry that I was unclear.

First option:

I meant that WINDOWS acknowledged as a RK29 device and installed the drivers correctly. But when I start the flashing tool, this program does NOT see the connection so I can not click op upgrade...it says that it can't do because of no device.

I have exactly the same problem, everything I do is to no avail, I'm contemplating chucking it in the bin and buying a different make, what do you suggest anyone?

PS in addition I get an error back from the tablet Windows reports it as "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

I will update the Rockchip flashing tool page with more details and troubleshooting soon.

Hopefully it can be of some help.

Hi,

This string is the nearest thing I have found to my problem.

I only had unit one day.  I set the wifi up and charged unit as battery was low.  I switched unit off before going to bed but kept unit charging.  In the morning the light was green indicating batery was full.  But I could not turn unt on no matter how long I pressed the on switch. I tried pressing the reset button on the red light came on whilst the reset button volume + pressed.  The screen did not come on at all.  c

I did some research and found the RK flash tool.  This only showed blue square and not green square as specified and then came up with error message unit failed to start.   I've seen questions about blue square on flash tool, but no other message appears to match my error message. I tried the reset and volume but the blue square remained

Have you or the Admin any further thoughts?

No, there are no further thoughts by the look of it.

I'm gonna buy me another make of tablet as this one cost me and delivered nothing but a dead screen and the error from windows saying that the device is busted. Anybody want it? it's yours for the cost of postage.Cry

Rockchip flashing tool is usually of good help to rescue a bricked tablet. On some setups, it's a bit tricky to get to work but if you get the green square you should be good to flash and restore your tablet.

I'm sorry if my Rockchip flashing article isn't clear enough or do not cover all the situations, I'm trying to improve it over time. Other users contributions are always welcome...

No it's not about the Rockchip flashing tool, I'm sure that is working ok as others seem to be able to make it work.
My problem is that I can't even get windows to recognize the device. It says there is an error in the device and that I should change it Frown

I have tried manually replacing the usb driver but windows says the driver is up to date and so will not make any changes.
Windows simply calls the device "unknown device" and never loads the driver without unloading it immediately because of the error in the device, so none of the Rockchip flashing article is relevant because I can't even get to stage one.

I have sent an email error report to Arnova and am waiting a reply, but it looks like trying to load that firmware has rendered my device as a true brick with no resurrection in sight Frown

I had the same problem but was lucky enough that the store I bought (Maplins) took the tablet back and gave me another one, I won't be trying to upgrade the software again. After I tried to use MorkaMod firware and all I was left with was a black slab with a green light that blinked now and again on the side. Tying to flash using the Rockwell Tool was not possible as the Tablet was an unknown device when I hooked it up to Windows XP or 7 via the USB cable. I tried the reset button, tried to reset it when I had the volume tab up. Tried everything.

I'd love to be able to run Android 4.0 on the machine so if you know of a way please let me know

till then all the best Anthony
