Amazon Appstore and GetJar App both work perfectly on this tablet, and both of them have select paid apps for free, legally.
Get the Amazon Appstore here, https://www.amazon.com/app-email
And GetJar is at http://m.getjar.com , the Arnova 10 G2 is not a selectable device but I just chose another tablet and it worked.
google market is important to match certain apps to your firmware and hardware. We are not the same as archos101 because of gingerbread, which sometimes matters. We use a different cpu, although they both seem to be in the same "neon" instruction set class, which sometimes is important. Most apps are toys or fluff and can work across a broad range. Others are more specific and hard to find the right one except on google market.
I agree that we've spent quite a lot of forum space chasing after The Holy Grail, i.e. Android Market only to find that's it's not all that, especially since it fails to recognise our tablets and presumably therefore holds back on what it is prepared to give us. I can see from the PC access to my AM account that my HTC phones show up as exactly that, whereas my 7 and 10 G2s just show up as 'the phone used in February' so no wonder we don't get it all.
For myself, I've the modified GetJar that 'lies' about my kit being a Samsung Galaxy, Appslib, AM and Amazon Market. Somewhere in that lot, you stand a good chance of getting close to what you want. I've also found it prudent to check all sites when it comes to paid-for apps, as prices differ.
Other than that, I just 'google' a specific .apk file and see if any kind soul will let me download it.
