Can you confirm if you need to change the file name of the downloaded image file to Img for the g2 to load the firmware?

Is this firmware based on the original rom and has anyone using it
noticed any glitches.

Thanks

On most Rockchip tablets, the firmware should be named update.img and should be placed at the root of the tablet (top level directory from the Files application on the tablet or root directory from the USB connection)

I haven't checked this firmware yet, can't say how stable it is.

It’s based on the latest official rom, only Gapps and Market has been added. Very stable, no problems so far.

Does titanium backup work in the restore mode? There were reports of another semi-rooted approach not being able to do this.

Does google market make any more apps available than the "google market lite" you get from the stock non rooted approach? I don't mind the cruder interface of gmarket lite, in fact sort of prefer it.

Does this approach use arctools or does the market just appear? thanks

Been following the various discussions here, but not tried any of them until now. Installed this latest firmware and got market up and running without any problems on my 10 G2 4Gb. Installed a shedload of games for my girls to play on Christmas day.

Thanks to all here and at htcmania for your continued efforts. Cool

Daft, it does work some what.  I used it to backup my stuff before really getting into trying to hack the fw.  When I went to restore some things did not restore properly like Go Launcher, etc.  However even though this firmware is not fully rooted, knowing what I know now, I do not believe that is what is not allowing titanium backup to work.  /system is ro only so any app you install should be able to be backed up since it was impossible for the app at install time to write to /system.  So maybe titanium backup may need to be updated to support RK29.  Just a guess on my part.

i was a bit worried about bricking a brand new tablet by messing with the root etc.ive been using bazzaar android instead it seems loads better than the applib thing, loads more games etc.i have never used android market before.does it have loads more stuff than bazzaar or is it about the same? seems like the safer way to do it.

Google market is the ultimate android market with infinitely better quality and number than any other one. If you are concerned about custom firmwares, there is no need for it in order to get google market. There is a topic on that here (something like nonrooted...). Or you can peek at another forum with summarized setup tips http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=60005

There is a second custom firmware posted at htcmania with root, market, google apps and 210MB free app space. I just installed it on my 10 G2. Working fine so far.

when i open the market up n then open say the games, there is only 1 or 2 gaes showin in each of the categories... is this normal? if not then how do i see the full list of dlc? i am using arnova 10 g2 UK if UK does make a difference.

When you first started the market did you log in to your Google account or create an Account?
