Install the gmaps last if you want.  There is an update gmaps on the merket or applib.

Just wanted to add that this method worked for me as well. I got the Arnova 10 G2 for my wife to use as a Nook reader, and was upset to find that the Appslib version didn't work - as did the Facebook app, despite the fact that I could log into Facebook with the browser. Apparently, both of these apps were trying to use the tablet as a cell phone, and therefore could not "connect to the servers". Loading this software package and rebooting allowed me to download these apps from the Android Market and install them successfully. My wife will love her new Christmas present now.  🙂

[EDIT] Oh, the Map app wouldn't work, either. It kept looking for the GPS, which this tablet doesn't have. This update fixed that, too.

No - appslib was giving false messages... it gets flaky under xmas load. Use it in parallel with google market as well as maybe the amazon market which will give you various pay apps for free.

I think you misunderstand. I was able to download the apps (which were free) from appslib, but the apps, themselves, wouldn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times over two days, with the exact same problems. This wasn't a "server load" problem.

Oh, I see... that's interesting because appslib should have the best idea of what kind of animal an10g2 is. I guess I have had that problem both ways, where sometimes the google version won't work and sometimes the appslib version won't work.

Agreed. In fact, at one point, I was able to get the Facebook app to attempt to make contact through the Wi-Fi instead, and it still came back with the same error. After that, I looked carefully and realized that the FB and Nook apps were written by people other than FB and B&N, and had much lower ratings than the same apps on Android Market. Arnova isn't doing themselves locking their customers into a app library with funky third-party apps, rather than hosting the official apps from the official websites. If I couldn't have gotten FB and Nook to work on this tablet, I would have promptly returned it.

Hi all, this is my 1st post.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, with using this method what file manager app is best to use on appslib?

🙂

It's only a dumb question if you're asking AFTER you've bricked your tablet.  😉

I just used the file manager that came with the tablet.

Also is there a way to update to latest version of the market once done?

That, I cannot answer. I'm not even sure what the difference is. I was happy to find what I was looking for, but I don't know what is "missing". I assumed the Android market would always be up-to-date with all the available applications. Hopefully, someone will come along and explain to both of us what the importance of "versions" is.

Waitaminute... that sounds like your mistake in assuming:

1) That appslib was giving you the wrong thing by the same name. Name collisions are very common, even on google market alone where various versions of "maps" exist, by google and others. It is your responsiblity to identify exactly whose version you are seeing, and there there should be no second class citizenship for so called 3rd party writers (who sometimes do a better job).

2) That appslib is needlessly omitting apps. Appreciate appslib!! It is a blessing and a freebie. Google is the problem, which is needlessly shutting Arnova out from being allowed to pre-install the market due to prissy technicalities (like not having phone capability). Who says appslib is even allowed to carry the main facebook or whatever - and who will keep updating it so it doesn't always fall out of date like on other markets like aptoide?

As for another's comment on the "old" version of google market on this unrooted approach: Who says it is old, and why? Having a retro screen look isn't a bad thing and may provide exactly the same apps. I like the screen better because you can click on downloads right away, instead of having to go thru options. The new version hides convenient buttons so they can push sales of their crappy media which I want no part of. Maybe I am wrong, but see no benefit in a google market "upgrade" unless it would help take ownership of orphan apps and offer to update them. Now it seems it only offers updates to things you downloaded thru it.

Daft, for a guy who types a lot, you're not providing a whole lot of helpful information

"1) That appslib was giving you the wrong thing by the same name."

It was the ONLY Nook app. Do a search and prove me wrong.

"2) That appslib is needlessly omitting apps. Appreciate appslib!! It is a blessing and a freebie."

A) Again, it was the ONLY Nook app, and all the reviews I saw at the time were from people complaining that it didn't work.
B) The OFFICIAL Nook app is ALREADY free. Applibs isn't doing me a favor by hosting a free, albeit non-working version.

"As for another's comment on the "old" version of google market on this unrooted approach: Who says it is old, and why?"

There have been several posts throughout these threads about various versions of Android Market. For a guy with 38 posts, I would have guessed you might have run across a few while you've been posting here. Apparently not. If you are going to accuse people of being wrong about things, at least have the decency to do your own research first. Otherwise, you really aren't contributing to the actual discussion at hand.
