Hi All. I wanted to try and get market installed on the official rom. I installed the latest update from the arnova website. I then had a look at the htcmania website and found a link for this file:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QSM6ATPB

This holds some of the gapps. (At the moment megaupload seems to be down for me. Probs just me).

Extract the files, transfer the files and then install the apks using file manager in this order:

 -1.Google Services Framework
-2.OneTime Initializer
-3.Setup Wizard
-4.Talk
-5.Gmail
-6.Vending I have now got the market working without root!! It's not the latest version but I'm sure I can download that and sideload it! Hope this helps some people out as I have been looking around for this for a while! ultimodiablo

megaupload caught up in law enforcement action. Can google for "Set up Google apps.rar" and find other source of files, how-to description, blah blah. Long story, dire pitfalls, etc. Won't dwell on it unless gotten something working.

There are other stories about MU failure mentionning a major DNS issue.

Apparently the site is reachable thru OpenDNS.

So is this the first proper way to get te andrid market witout the need for the custom firmware ? As we know there is a problem with internal storage with the custom

I used this method a while ago to load Android Market on other tablets and found some issues as required system libraries and files were missing and prevented the Market to fully work. I am open to test it again and eventually include something similar thru ArcTools if I hear positive feedback from users here…

Regarding the storage space increase on our custom firmware, it is still on the priority list, but we need some time as we are busy with other firmwares as well (Arnova 7 G2 and Arnova 8 G2)

By Internet i suppose you mean the web browser ?

There is a know incompatibility with latest Flash 11 update and the browser on the Arnova 10 G2, if you have updated to that version you will need to downgrade.

Now we risk getting caught up in the needless "blah blah" that I hoped to avoid. The google search I suggested can get anyone up and running with experimental approach first proposed. I didn't want to post the results of the search because some of them are in a grey legal area.

I already got around the DNS problem, and that's how I identified the search parameters. Then you encounter another DNS issue, which you can bypass by switching to another site via the search. The DNS issue was speculated to be a side effect of law enforcement action, but whether or not is irrelevant blah blah.

Maybe a more sensible experiment is to not use the shakey .apks downloaded for such sources. but try the proposed technique using apk's from the arctools approach. Thus you do the arctools swizzle, then backup the 6 files into apks. Restore the original arnova firmware, then load the 6 apks.

There may be no need to increase space which may just borrow it from some area also in need. The original allocation of space is gigantic and can hold almost infinite apps. The problem with arctools firmware is the original space comes jammed full. Maybe a bit due to new loaded google apps, but maybe also put something needless that can be excluded.

There is a whole other confusion factor about pushing apps to sd. When I say can fit almost infinite apps originally, that comes with pushing apps to sd. You can push apps to sd under arctools firmware too, but that doesn't help enough because the original space is so crammed full (maybe arctools can push originals to sd?).

Let's not get confused by the sd push terminology. Normally pushing to sd simply involves pushing PART of an app to sdcard DIRECTORY, not to the card itself. Now there seems to be some pushing to the actual card, but in any case have your antenna's out for ambiguity here.

Does your market actually download? Mine would respond to clicks but not actually download. I got the pieces from another site though. Have you noticed if you start off with giant appspace still avail (200 out of 256 instead of 100 before new app installations)?

Great news.

Can you confirm that the market is the latest or that it can be updated to the latest?

Have you had any issued so far with regards to storage space with you device after installing the market etc this way, and does it boot any faster?

Would be good for you to give feedback through the forum on you experiences with the hack on your device.

Thankyou

Hi, I'm not Android power user.

the file has app, framework, lib, permissions subdirs. I copied them in a subdir of SD and started to install apps in adviced order.

Because it's not working, I'm wondering where to place framework, lib, permissions files

these directories are subdirectories from /system which is mounted on a read only partition on the official firmware, that's why we made a custom firmware, so it's possible to install these files in this default location.
