Our kitchen system to help building custom firmwares is almost ready.

The first feature will be to offer every user the possibility to get the firmware "cooked" with their own boot image (replacing the Arnova logo), first on the Arnova 10 G2.

If you are interested in testing, before the feature is fully released, please post a message in this topic, with the image you want to see in the boot. The image need to be in Jpeg, PNG or Gif (no animated gif please) and in 1024x600 resolution. Please upload the image using the "Upload Attachments" button below the edit zone when you add a new topic. At the moment, we accept only files uploaded with this method.

Once you have uploaded your picture, you can get the firmware customized for you in the kitchen here: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/arctablet-kitchen-build-your-custom-arnova-firmware/

On this page, go to the picture you want in the boot logo, select the firmware you want to customize and press the button. The page will reload, please allow a minute or two to process the firmware and you will get access to your custom firmware download.

Hope you like it Smile

Basically the kitchen currently reworks the boot image with the logo you choose.

What you get is a zip archive with the firmware version you choosed on the kitchen page when submitting your order. Make sure you flash the same custom firmware version you had before so you have no surprise on the setup.

Flashing with this method erases all your data, including apps and settings, so it may be better to wait for next major firmware update to flash...

I have updated the Kitchen and I would need some help in testing it.

Instructions are in post #1 on this topic, just upload a boot image then go to the kitchen page.

The kitchen currently supports only the Arnova 10 G2, with our Kasty EZ firmware.

Currently supported cooking functions:

- Custom boot image
- Adding root (su & Superuser.apk)

Features to be implemented later:
- Adding Android Market and Google Apps
- Adding kernel modules support (Bluetooth, CIFS...) from fenice57
- Adding R/W system using ext3 or ext4 file system

We will be supporting more devices and features to make the firmware cooking process as generic and open as possible, your suggestions are welcome.

thats a great idea to leave everyone free to build their own customized firmware!
hope you put more options soon so that there would be more choices 🙂

I'm glad you like it.

I'm in the process of adding more devices and Android Market support. Virtually any firmware modification can be added in the kitchen, I hope we can compile a great variety of options.

For the moment, I really need more feedback on the kitchen, please help if you have a few minutes to upload your boot image, get a cooked firmware from the kitchen, flash your device and report if it all went fine.

Thank you Wink
