Is it the Bob Finless root?

If so when you extracted the zip file it wil of created a folder wherever you extracted it to.

Did you run the RK29update icon from within that folder?

When you click on that you should see all boxes ticked apart from LOADER and BACKUP.

You have to make sure nothing was moved out of that folder that you extracted

DO NOT USE THE ROCKCHIP BATCH TOOL 1.4 that is on the Forum for general firmware flashing that admin put on there, use the RK29update that is in the firmware folder

If it is did use the RK29update in the firmware folder, than you should have 4 folder in there.

Drivers

Image

Language

Log

Look in the image folder and make sure that the file recovery.img is in there.

hi,

it is the finless one thats on here, it starts with the readme first notes from finless......

i have followed that until i hit this problem

i did run the rk29 update and have checked and there is a file called recovery in there

if i am not to use the tutorial/rockchip - where do i go from here to flash...

i have a tutorial sheet to follow after i have flashed (ignore the way that sounds!)  to transfer the firmware to the tablet and to download arctools and market etc

thanks

Just redownload the rockchip update and i dont know why you even bothered clicking eraselbd as you only need to do that if your going back to stock.

Open the flashing tool and plug your arnova into your computer in recovery and click run dont touch anything else

To the far right of each line that has the check box followed by the path to the file name for the img is a box.  Click that and you will get a file manager pop up.  Go point to the recovery.img file manually using that.  If it still says "cant find recovery.img" then you have something messed up when you unzipped the ROM package.

Simondo, since he has not successfully flashed to the new ROM he does need to EraseIDB.  You need to do that going from stock to my ROM or from my ROM back to stock.  However since he did it once he doesnt need to do it again.

Are you waiting for the erase idb to finish its process before you start clicking run?

Just try to extract the file again and on some unzip programs you have to select all files or it only unzipped part files.
I always just extract to desktop, and don't know if it would make a difference but try not to unzip it to a separate folder.

I am not sure how your doing that.  The file structure changes and size of the img changes is why I cannot make a update.img you can just copy to the Arnova and update it.  This is why EraseIDB is needed.  It erases the Image Deffinition Blocks.  Without doing that the system can get really screwed up or not boot at all because they got stuffed in a smaller area of ram, etc.  Yes sometimes it will work but when I have not done it the unit is unstable and crashes or will not boot back up on the next power off.

i have deleted the firmware file, downloaded it and extracted it again,

the only recovery file in there is called;  recovery (from pauls pc) - which is the name of the pc i am using?

i have open the rk29 straight from the firmware, the only boxes checked are; boot kernel, misc and parameter, when i check these boxes, am still getting the message system file is not existed

Let's start again

download this /assets/firmware/Arnova10G2/arn10g2-23-1_1.zip

Download this unzip program http://www.peazip.org/download-installer-p-windows.html

Install peazip on your pc and click on firmware file you downloaded to extract it. Now hopefully peazip will open.

You will have a box extract all files to, select Desktop and the program will extract the files to there

Now go into that folder on your desktop and click the rk29

Whatever program is on your Pc to extract files is making a hash of it by the sound of it.

If when you click on the firmware zip and peazip does not open for some reason than right click on the zip file and select OPEN WITH, and choose peazip, but I think it will open it anyway

Strange.

What operating system are you using?

Are you logged into the computer that you are doing this on as an Administrator?

If not log in from the main account of the computer.

If this fails than I suggest that you try to install the firmware from a different computer, you may have some important system files missing on your computer, or some sort of corruption somewhere.
