I just received my G2 and am trying to update the firmware, I would like to do the new custom from Finless but I will wait a little longer for debugging. I followed all of the steps and it says to save the file to the root which i am assuming the folder titled Andriod is it, is that correct?Embarassedalso if anyone can help I also tried the steps for ArcTools and then downloading the Android Market but it does not work. Will it be better with the Finless release? I see the HTC site has been taken down.

No

The root folder is and isnt a folder as such, when you plug your tablet to your computer usually a pop up will appear with a list of folders, just put firmware in that directory, dont put it in a folder!

safely remove the tablet in the usual way from your Pc remove cable and the upgrade will begin

Arctools wont work with the standard firmware you would need to install Custom firmware, however try this method

k I worked on most of the issues and I have the newer version of the firmware loaded from the offiicial site and I have downloaded and ready the custom firmware from Finless, however I am not ready to load that unless i cannot get the market loaded. I have been swimming on these forums trying to make heads or tails out of the different ways to load the Market. I tried to get the apk from megaloads and the site is down. I also downloaded a couple of the versions of the "set-up for google apps. rar" as well. Additionally I downloaded a couple of zip sites, Astrozip and some other one. problem is I cannot get the files to open. The zip extractor will not set up and thus the files will not open. I understand once the files are open on my Pc I have to transfer to the G2 and open and install the apk as the list above. Any ideas where I can get a good download of the files and which appl would be the best extractor for RAR files. For as good as this tablet is compared to my llast one that was a MID at least it had the full market! Why as big as Archos is they do not have the full market on only the AppLibs? Very frustrating and I have a resistive 7" tablet with full market that was less than $100 and I also have the full market on my TV with the Logitech? Any help would be greately appreciated, thanks

Dear All,

I'm new to Android but I read that the 2.3 (Gingerbread) firmwareis a software from 2010. Is there a possibility to update this to the most recent firmware from android (4.0?)? Or would this take too much capacity from the tablet?

And does it mean that the 2.3 firmware is dated?

I tried to google all this questions but can't seem to find the answer...Embarassed

Thanks in advance,

Jasper

The CPU manufacturer (Rockchip) has show prototype devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but there are currently no release for our devices.

Technically, ICS should have no problem running on the Arnova G2 devices, we are all wait from an update from Arnova or from independant developer/communities.

We'll post here in the forum and the blog when we have some news on the subject.

Hi all, I wish someone could answer my question about the APK files that use to be on megaupload that everyone used to get the Market. I tried the site mentioned, set up android apps and finally downloaded the files, however the astrozip mentioned will not open it thus I cannot follow the steps listed on the other forum on installing it in steps that everyone used. i tried the arctools way with the standard firmware but it did not work. I will eventually go the way of the custom firmware when I know a little more about my device, i do not want to brick it when i just received it.

Thanks

Install File expert onto your tablet as this will extract the zip onto your tablet.

I have downloaded the zip from the link above and it extracts just fine.

Arctools will not work with standard firmware.

If you need any support with installing custom firmware let me know

Thanks, I just finished with the custom firmware and all went well, except now when rebooting the calibration screen has an error message " process.com.rockchip.tscalibration has stopped unexpectedly" then when I install arctools and then download the rooted 3.4.4 download when I attempt to install them I get the error message error unzip failed reboot error 25 file copy failed! now it is really frustrating. It took forever to get the custom drivers installed, windows 7 would not let me manually install them I had to put it on a disk and load it when prompted "do you have a disk" then all went well until now, any ideas?
