your recovery is not working(missing)
you should get the tablet in fastboot mode( bootloader), the screen it will be black, but you can check if the arnova is fastboot withe the command
123981236123arnova fastboot (something like this should appear if you have your tablet in fastboot)
This might be helpful. If I turn it on holding +, it goes to the recovery menu and shows this error:
Can't open E:/cache/recovery/command
Really appreciate all the help so far. 🙂
You need to push reset and Volume +, please read the Rockchip flashing page carefully

@globula_neagra Unfortunately the problem is that my computer no longer recognises that the device is connected, so I doubt that I can connect to it with the Android SDK.
@admin I am very sure I've done this as described, both with the tablet connected via USB and not (just to be sure)
In case anyone is interested in the resolution of this particular story, there has been no progress in resolving the tablet's issues. I think I've learned my lesson, which is not to buy another Archos device. I've flashed other devices plenty of times, but never had anything like these problems.
I'll be eBaying my brick at the weekend. 🙂
Sad to hear that...
From how much you will start the bid ? 🙂
I hope you haven't eBayed your 'brick' yet because it might well not be as bricked as you suspect.
Look on here for Finless Bob's 1.1 Firmware. Read the READ-ME very carefully. Follow those instructions to the letter and your drivers issue will go away. I had the same problem as you - at least in its first manifestation - and once I went back to the instructions, rather than relying on my memory, it all fell into place.
If you can't find the READ-ME post here and I will paste the text you need this evening.

I also had the exact same issue that you had and after trying to find one of Finless Bob's driver update pages thanks to Ayrton's suggestion I did find a key step that I missed before that caused me to have your same issue (kept listing it at Arnova 10g2 or something instead of unknown device) but the key is to hold down the + key and after pressing the reset button about 2 seconds to let go of the reset while holding the + and make sure the screen stays black and then plug in the USB device. Before I had the USB already in and pressed both and it would turn black and then show Arnova like the problem you had.

I had the exact issue as the original poster and could not figure out how to fix it from the instruction. However, like jameslovesjesus says if you "hold down the + key and after pressing the reset button about 2 seconds to let go of the reset while holding the + and make sure the screen stays black and then plug in the USB device" it should fix the problem. I then used Rockchip batch tool V1.5 to upgrade to the original firmware from the website.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
maybe stupid question but i dont get it... do i need first to shutdown the tablett then press + then reset etc or do i need to start the tablett then + -- reset ? i cannot fix the calibration problem after update with the custom FW i get everytime after start the calibration option and everything its just crazy
