Following a firmware upgrade, my 10 G2 is now bricked. The instructions to fix this sound straight forward, but I'm failing at the first hurdle. I think that I have successfully done the reset, but when I plug the device into my computer I'm unable to get the driver installed (using W9_0.18.20101201.214043.zip).
Here's a video of the issue (what am I doing wrong?):

You are using the wrong flashing tool, the one you tried is for older Arnova (first generation) tablets.
You'll need this one http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/

Thanks for the reply, but I think you've missed what I was saying.
I can't even get to the point of trying to use the flashing tool because I cannot get a driver to install on Windows 7 as shown in the video. I believe this must be the first step as the flashing tool doesn't even realise there's something connected.
The deviced bricked randomly after following the 10 minute firmware install. It had been working great for a day or so.
The Rockchip flashing article has been updated with a Troubleshooting section at the end, maybe it can help.

Hey, thanks very much for the troubleshooting section. I was really hopeful when I read it that it would sort my device out, but unfortunately I still can't get any further. It's properly bricked!
Here's an updated video in case it's useful to you or anyone else.
Ugh, desperate now!

Thanks for your efforts.
One possible mistake that comes to mind is if you are selecting the right drivers. Is your system on 64 bits by any chance ?
In that case you'd need to go in 64bits\win7
I'll see if I can get you other pointers...

Hi, yes, I definitely have Windows 7 32-bit. I've also tried installing from the root of the drivers/ folder with the checkbox to check sub-directories checked.
I've looked at a few tutorials on force installing drivers, but none seemed to be exactly relevant as they assume Windows has some kind of driver for it already (which you then delete/rename to install a different one). In this case Windows says it doesn't have a driver at all, so I don't think this approach can work.

Admin, this tablet does not have fastboot as arnova 7c g2 has ?

@Skywriter. I would suggest to try on another computer. It may depend on how your one is set up. Have you also tried uninstall all drivers for Rockship and install again? This has worked for me. Also make absolutely sure of the version you use, there are loads that have been around and only the right one works.

Well, things have gone from bad to worse.
I plugged the tablet into my PC this morning to try again and now it doesn't even come up as a connected device. It's like it's not plugged in at all. I've tried it with a second PC, but the result is the same. I've also tried a different USB lead, but that didn't work either. I've also tried connecting it to my phone, which did recognise something was connected.
So, it appears it not totally dead; just stuck display the Arnova logo.
One suggestion, can you try installing http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html
Run it as administrator, and uninstall any drivers that are Rockchip or Arnova related.
Then make sure Windows is setup not to install drivers from Windows update, reboot and see if you can install Rockchip drivers.
Â
One more thing, when your tablet enters into flashing mode (by pressing Reset and Volume +) the screen should turn black and stop displaying anything, if it's not the case, you are probably not in flashing mode.
