Hi all,

Just want to get your opinions on the 10b G2 V's the 10 G2. From what I can see the only difference is a single slave USB on the 10b compared to a master and slave on the 10 G2 (other than the obvious case update). Is this correct?

So what do people think? I'm assuming that the 10b G2 is the latest update as the 10 G2 is proving harder to get than it was, also the 10b is pretty much in 'awaiting stock' status everywhere I go on the web. Is there a 'new' guy on the block that we should be waiting for?

Is the the 10b G2 going to have the same success as the 10 G2? Prices for the 10 G2 have plummeted but I'm assuming that is because it's end of model and distributors are dumping it in preparation for the 10b G2?

Finally, was the 10 G2 a winner because of the recent £140 - £150 price range? Will the 10b G2 succeed at £170? What do you think the shelf life is with the G3 just around the corner?

Thanks,

Rob

I didn't know about the USB difference between the 2 models, thanks for the info.

To me they are pretty similar devices that seem to share large part of the hardware. (Arnova 10bG2 capacitive firmware partly works on the 10G2, the contrary is not valid, for some reason Confused)

The 10G2 seems to be one of biggest Arnova hits, they probably have some reasonble margin to get a price down a little more. I don't think it will be dumped considering the 10bG2 is pretty similar and probably is not mass produced (yet). Not sure what Arnova is trying to do, but they have a lot of very similar products (exelletor covered it pretty well in his Blog article, Discussing Archos #2).

If it was me, I'd rather go for the 10G2 at current price or consider the G3 that will be probably out Q2 2012.

Interesting blog, thanks for the link.

So it's not a given then that the 10b G2 is the successor to the 10 G2? I can understand why the 70 IT exists alongside the 70b IT as they has different core speed, screen resolution and OS. From what I can see though the 10 G2 and 10b G2 are identical except for weight, case and (potentially) USB. Makes no sense if they are going to coexist.

Also, does anybody know why there is an Archos and Arnovatech website with discrete products on each? Are they separate companies?

Just to make sure there are no misunderstandings - I'm not actually a tablet user but seller. I have been selling refurbed 10 G2's via my Ebay shop (can I post a link). I'm now building a shop outside of Ebay that may be selling new 10 G2's, hence all the questions!

To answer some of my own questions after speaking directly to Archos.....

1) The 2 separate websites are to provide a marketing seperation between the budget and mid range tablets from the same company.

2) The 10b and 10 G2's are not being manufactured anymore.

3) The 10b G2 is not the successor to the 10 G2.

Cheers,

Rob

Arnova company is actually related to Archos, the product box says Arnova, "designed by Archos". This is quite right in the sense that Arnova models are mostly tablets from China that Archos choose to sell under their Arnova brand. I think they mostly redesign the tablet case, but there isn't much added value there.

On the other hand, Archos products are fully engineered inhouse and usually get better support and more frequent firmware updates.
